Outstanding, well located hotel.

Posted Feb 19, 2015
Pros: Staff was outstanding. Everybody from doormen to front desk was extremely friendly and helpful - true Southern Hospitality.
Cons: Restaurant, which is excellent, is not open for breakfast. Not a big issue as they serve a free continental breakfast.
Location: Hotel is close to a number of good restaurants (in addition to having an excellent one of its own, Grill 225) and is only three blocks to shops.
Visited Charleston to tour College of Charleston with my son. Did a lot of research on hotels in the historic district. Selected Market Pavilion because it seemed to be best combination of price, location and amenities (gym - most boutique hotels lack them, pool and restaurant). Overall condition of public areas and the rooms was fantastic. Service was also excellent. Absolutely will stay here again on our next visit to Charleston.

well-done hotel

Posted Feb 19, 2015
Pros: luxury without being pretentious
Location: "walking distance close" to everything in the historic area of Charleston
everything was just right - even down to Frank Sinatra music in the lobby - all things combined to feel like a luxury hotel in NYC yet not ostentatious!

Excellent hotel close to everything in Charleston.

Posted Feb 14, 2015
We have stayed at this hotel for four years. It is an excellent hotel and has been consistently "the same". This is a good thing. Without much trouble everything in the "downtown" Charleston area is within walking distance. The market is next door. There are five to ten great restaurants within a 10 minute walk. If you can get a room for $200 a night it is a great deal (doesn't happen often). We visit in the off season as we spend the summer season on Cape Cod. Every time I visit the city I like it more! This is a very good hotel.

Convenient and Luxurious

Posted Feb 13, 2015
Pros: Almost everything; especially the awesome hot shower with amazing water pressure! Customer service was always cordial and very attentive.
Cons: A restaurant menu that included more reasonable fare with less fanfare.
Location: There is an array of restaurants and bars on the same street that the hotel is located on. There are a few galleries, but not much shopping.
This hotel is very tasteful and handsomely decorated with not your typical hotel furnishings. Everything was exquisite including the beautiful crown-molding; the draperies, and furniture. The bathroom had a nice soaking tub and a separate shower stall that had the best water pressure. Each floor had a coffee/tea set up to help yourself to; as well as a 24 hr. fruit tray. In the morning, they also put out lovely pastries to accompany your hot beverage, at no extra cost. The concierge and desk clerks were always available to help and answer questions. The doorman and valet service was consistently attentive and prompt. There is a very pricey restaurant on premises. The pastry chef makes the most delicious bread ever; however, the much reputed beef was tough and was not cooked well; and the side vegetables were by far better than the entrees. Unfortunately, the cost of the meal was way more than the value of the product. Next visit to this hotel, I will eat elsewhere. There are plenty of restaurants on the same street as the hotel.

Elegant Hotel convenient to everything

Posted Jan 16, 2015
Pros: The entire staff was so professional, helpful, and friendly. The location is close to all the attractions, and to excellent restaurants.
The hotel staff were warm, professional, and very helpful. The hotel was very comfortable and elegant. The rooms were kept clean and neat at all times. Having coffee, and water for tea on each floor is a wonderful convenience. I look forward to staying here again.

Nice hotel with a rooftop bar

Posted Jan 7, 2015
Pros: Rooftop bar and ambience.
Cons: Open the restaurant again.
Location: Great restaurants in walking distance. Also, a good location from which to run in the morning.
I have stayed here many times over many years and, generally, like the hotel and the location (although, for shopping, it is a long walk over to King Street). The restaurant was not open because the floors were being done. Other than that, I would certainly recommend the hotel to anyone looking to stay on the Battery.

Nice hotel

Posted Dec 30, 2014
Great hotel. Beautiful room. Bathroom sink, however had a slow drain, but overall, it was a great room. The food and service at Grill 225 was amazing! We went to the Rooftop bar for dessert and coffee, but was told they did not serve any hot beverages. A little disappointing. We went across the street to Carvellas for dessert and coffee instead.
