“I would go back”

“Perfect choice”

This is the ideal hotel for those looking for a centrally located full service hotel. I researched all the hotels in Charleston and would highly recommend the Mills House for those seeking the old world charm of the historic district without the disadvantages of the bed and breakfast alternative. We got a great rate and stayed on the second floor with direct access to the pool terrace. The hotel has a great restaurant and bar and serves the best Sunday brunch in Charleston. You can walk to everything and it is so conveniently located that we were able to stop back at the room several times a day to freshen up, drop off purchases and relax. Don't think twice about staying here.

“Enjoyable stay”

I found the hotel very nice overall and reasonably priced for the immediate area. The location was ideal and the hotel itself had a nice historic look and feel both inside and out. The courtyard area is one of the finer points. The rooms are small and bathroom rather tight. I will say that though our room was kept clean it was obvious the drape over the headboard, the headboard itself and window drapes hand not been cleaned or dusted in a very, very long time and were appaling (this seems typical of many hotels). The TVs are also outdated and offer poor reception however then intent is usually not to spend time in your room anyway. As is also the case with hotels the "free" WIFI is pathetic anf far from even dial-up speed so dont depend on it. Given our stay was over Thanksgiving the hotel was completeing its decor for Christmas which was very nice and well done. The hotel has a very nice restaurant as well but far too espensive with so many other choices in the area to choose from which we opted for rather than dining in. The staff was most courteous and helpful during our stay. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

For upscale shopping King Street area is very nice and for more unique shopping the Market Street open market is also quite nice. Our stay was a week long and with beautiful weather in the upper 70s we enjoyed strolling all over the area and touring the many streets or relaxing in the Park areas which I highly recommend vs. just taking the shuttle around (which is free by the way). I would also recommend a carriage ride or 2 as the tour guides provide a wealth of information and historic facts.

When to go

Fall is exceptionally nice as the its neather hot nor too cool to walk around.

“Beautiful hotel central to historic district.”

The Mills House is the premier hotel in Charleston. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The restaurant serves some of the best food in town. The hotel is central to the Charleston Historic District. I love The Mills House, and I stay there every chance that I have.

“Terrific location, well kept, clean and pretty.”
