Hospitality with a side of Southern Charm

Posted Jun 19, 2015
Pros: The location was perfect, Historic Charleston, the market right across the street, within easy walking distance of great shopping and dining options.
Cons: I really loved everything about my stay there. I cannot honestly think of one thing that needed improvement.
Location: Easy walking distance to shopping and dining. Take a walking tour, visit the historic homes, visit Ft. Sumter. Great History in this town!
First, let me tell you that this was one of many trips I have taken with my dearest friend. We had recommendations on several hotels from friends who have visited and lived in Charleston, and we decided on The Planters Inn. We knew we would arrive late in the evening so I called ahead to speak to the Concierge Matthew, who was so very helpful in giving us a list of places to see and things to do while in town, he also offered to make restaurant reservations for us. We arrived and on walking into the Lobby I was taken with the feeling of Southern Elegance. I loved the fact that to go beyond the lobby you need a room key to access the elevator. The room was beautiful, clean and the bed so comfortable that I slept like a baby every night. .The staff was pleasant, friendly and so very helpful. The Peninsula Grill, off the lobby, is well worth a stop for dinner. The Coconut Cake is an absolute must for dessert! I would stay here again without hesitation and will absolutely recommend it to any and all friends who are headed to Charleston for a visit!

Beautiful facility but service was lacking

We always enjoy staying at the Planter's Inn. It is in a perfect location in the heart of historical Charleston by the market. We felt that the staff wasn't as accommodating this time and we were treated rather rudely by the hostess at Peninsula Grille when we stopped to get coffee and a piece of the infamous coconut cake. It was upsetting.
