Trying but not succeeding

Posted Oct 6, 2014
Pros: The 24-7 Kangaroo convenience store next door.
Cons: Timeliness, cleanliness. Ice machines.
Location: Check expedia or travel sites. Tons of things to do
We arrived for a 3pm check-in at 4pm, to be told our rooms were not yet ready. Not wanting to wait in the lobby or go spend money at a restaurant or bar for an hour, we asked to check in and have the maids come change the beds when the "sheets were out of the dryer" which is what the desk clerk said we were waiting for. She apologized by saying that the hotel was behind because a cruise ship group had left late that day and left the housekeeping crew scrambling. I would change the terms of the agreement with the cruise ship organizers, or have a backup plan, but I would not make next day guests suffer because management was too excited to get the cruise ship booking and fill the hotel for a night, leaving the housekeeping crew and next day guests hanging and waiting for an answer as to why, after we spent a day of driving, you couldn't have a clean room waiting at 3pm,(as the reservation promised) or even 4pm,(when we arrived). Then, after noticing the room was quickly cleaned (the wet spot on the floor couldn't have been remedied, I suppose, but my socks and feet noticed, even though it was not visible), I saw no coffee with the in room coffee maker. The attendant apologized for being out of coffee, and suggested I get some downstairs, in the lobby. 3 coffee urns, no coffee. All empty. Kind of a deja vu moment when I looked for ice. After looking on the first 3 floors, I found an employee who may have seen the vacant stare of a hotel guest with an ice bucket in hand before.

We apologize for the disappointing service you received from our staff. Our team works hard to make sure our guests are comfortable and receive our best service. I apologize for the wait you encountered at arrival. Please know that your feedback has been communicated to our leadership team. Thank you for your feedback.

Old hotel with lots of issues.

Posted Sep 29, 2014
Cons: They need to remodel the whole thing and add new elevetors.
Location: Excellent location and very easi access to express way.
Hotel is old and has issues with Elevetors and hallways. out of two elevetors, one is out for over 3 weeks and another one decided to stop working for that day also. Luckily, we were no 2nd floor. People on top floor had a hell of a time. Hallways have the mildew smell. The staff is excellent and they were very sincere and friendly. Rooms are better.

very nice time at this hotel.

Pros: almost everything.
Cons: the a/c was quite noisy, but bearable.
Location: a plethora of shops, restaurants, attractions within 5-10 minutes from hotel.
service, room, location, all were very pleasing. ALL employees we had contact with, were very helpful, and seemed genuinely sincere about wanting us to have a very pleasant stay in their hotel. housekeeping was especially helpful and patient with our requests.

Convenience

Posted Aug 26, 2014
The hotel is in a great location if you want to be away from the crowd. It it is however closer enough to downtown now and the beach that you don't worry about allot of traffic. Whenever I go to Charleston I stay at this hotel, the staff is very friendly, and helpful with whatever you need.

Nice hotel close to downtown Charleston

Posted Aug 15, 2014
Pros: The staff went out of their way to be accommodating, helpful and friendly.
Location: Downtown Charleston was 20 minutes or less away. It's close to shopping, a variety of chain restaurant, the beaches and airport.
We had an easy check in. The staff was very friendly. A complimentary meal with drinks was available to guests on the Wednesday we were there which was down-home delicious. Our room had some modern upgrades, a microwave and fridge which I always want to have in a room. Coffee in the am, flavored waters throughout the day and comfortable beds made the short times we were actually in the room a good experience.

Glad that you were able to take advantage of our manager's reception on Wednesdays. The hotel is very convenient to downtown being just off the exit on I-26. It is a short ride to the historic district and the airport. Thank you for taking time to respond with your comments on your recent stay with us.

No free breakfast if room reserved through Expedia

Posted Aug 15, 2014
Staff was very nice. Bathrooms clean. Sleep Number bed was extremely uncomfortable. The hotel was fine, though decent restaurants were within walking distance of much nicer hotels, we had to drive to get something besides fast food. Bit pricey for what we got, and we were disappointed that breakfast was not included since we reserved the room through Expedia.

Thank you for commenting on your stay with us. I am disappointed that the beds were uncomfortable for you. It is so important for a good night's rest and we appreciate that not everyone is comfortable with a sleep number bed. As we replace our bedding packages we are moving to a more traditional style of bedding. I hope that on your next visit to the area you would stay with us again. I hear so frequently on the friendliness and professionalism of the staff, they try very hard to make your stay go well.
