Great hotel in the historic CharlestonPosted Aug 11, 2014
Pros: Location, cleanliness, decor, and friendly staff
Cons: Suggest putting a safe in the hotel room. Thought not a huge concern, it would be nice to have a safe in the room to store valubale personal items.
Location: Great location being a block from King St. Walk down King St. and/or Cumberland and you will run into many shops and great restaurants.
The hotel is conveniently located in the historic downtown area. It's close to King Street as well as many shops and restaurants. It's about a 15-minute walk to the harbor/marina for those of you who are interested in doing the Ft. Sumter tour. All in all, this is a great place to stay with very friendly staff.

Very nice hotel in a great location!Posted Aug 11, 2014
Pros: The staff was very friendly and helpful. I loved the décor; I thought it was warm and inviting. We were within walking distance of everything.
Cons: The view from our room was of the roof and the wall of the next building which really was very unattractive. That was all we could see.
Location: Great location! Within walking distance of the Battery, Charleston Place, fantastic restaurants, the Market, and phenomenal shopping.
Our stay at the Renaissance was very pleasant. The service was great. They have a wonderful restaurant, and it is conveniently located in the downtown area which was really a plus.

Nice hotel, great location.Posted Jun 26, 2014
We came to Charleston on a Sunday afternoon. We arrived at the hotel around three. There were four hotel employees standing at the entrance, not one offered to help us unload our luggage or find us a cart to put our belongings on. We found a cart and unpacked our things. While waiting for my boyfriend to park the car across the street ( YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR HOTEL PARKING! $12 a day.) I saw a nicer car than mine come up to the hotel and everyone ran over to help them! I may not have payed for a grand suite but I expect the same hospitality as everyone else in the hotel. Other than that our stay was good. Rooms clean but small. Bed was very comfortable. Great location. Pool was nice. I changed our days around to get a cheaper room, I would never pay $500 a night for the room we had. It's not worth that. I did however think $189 a night was a fair price.

Thank you for staying with us at the Renaissance Charleston Historic District Hotel and we greatly appreciate the feedback you have shared with us. I want you to know that we take your comments seriously and have addressed each item accordingly. Also, I can assure you that every guest is very important to us and treated in that way. We spend a tremendous amount of time and efforts in training our staff on how to handle issues resulting in a positive guest experience. It is therefore very disheartening when we fail to satisfy our guests as we did in your case. Our goal is to satisfy every guest and exceed their expectations. We hope to regain your trust and hope that will you choose to stay with us again. Thank you again for sharing your feedback. Warm regards, John

Nice hotelPosted Jun 8, 2014 on Hotels.com
Location was good. Clean and neat. Friendly staff. Close to markets but a long walk from restaurant areas. Surcharge of $12.95 a day for wifi was excessive considering most restaurants and activitiy have free wifi. "Jestines cafe" at the corner of the block was good but very busy. Parking station across the road from hotel was handy and only $12 a day. Go on the Harbour cruise which is only a short walk away to the wharf.

Excellent location..between King & Meeting StreetsPosted Jun 2, 2014
Pros: The shower was great, the complimentary lobby evening hord'oerves was a great "touch", and the location was excellent.
Cons: Breakfast..all guests should get the same, if its included with the room. I also think the rate was too high, for the accommodations.
Location: Fabulous shopping, Phenomenal restaurants and great sightseeing by the river.
This is an older quaint hotel that has been refurbished. It is in a convenient location to all things historic. The staff was minimal. Only one bellman and one guest services representative was ever present. On occasion, I did see a person working the concierge desk. Breakfast was included with our stay, however, I wasn't told it included only the continental breakfast. The wait staff seemed confused about which guests get what breakfast, since the full breakfast and continental breakfast was being served in the same room. Overall the room was nice, beds were comfortable and the shower was relaxing.
