Stayed one night during business trip

Posted May 21, 2015
I stayed one night during a business trip. Great atmosphere. There are a lot of bars and restaurants right there. Fantastic view of the marina and waterfront. It's not unusual to see dolphins playing in the creek. The hotel is a little older but it was clean and comfortable. Will definitely stay there again.

Good But Could Easily Be Better.

Posted May 11, 2015
Pros: The location was great, very close to Charleston, which we were there to visit. Great views, nice boardwalk, good dining within walking distance
Cons: The parking lot. Senior staff supervision. Better response to facilities issues.
Location: For us the big attraction was Charleston. But Mount Pleasant seems a nice community and the hotel area was close to dining and entertainment.
We stayed four nights. The location was great . . .but. There were little annoyances that should have been easily fixed: a running toilet that required a chain-length adjustment (not fixed, despite three tries), a shower curtain that smelled musty (They changed our room - rather than the curtain!), a coffee maker that didn't work, a limited continental breakfast where the toasters didn't work. Some more serious issues. The parking lot was mostly unpaved (covered instead with gravel) and pot-hole riddled. There were nine (count 'em) spaces in a sheltered (and paved) area) under the hotel. The laundry appliances (adjacent to the parking lot) were less than reassuring - rusty and dirty). Almost all our interaction was with junior desk staff, who however did try to help.

We spend four nights at Shem Creek Inn at the end of April. Staff were great and always will to help with directions to various locations. Enjoyed watching the activities on the creek, boats, people, dolphins! Boardwalk was great for a walk. Restaurants and bars all within walking distance.

shabby

Posted May 9, 2015
Pros: internet
Cons: close the place and completely remodel
Location: location is great--on the water--2 restaurants--close to Charleston
Setting is nice, but the place is shabby and outdated.

Disappointed with Hotel and Cost

Posted Apr 23, 2015
Pros: They had a nice breakfast in the morning, the staff was friendly and they allowed us to check in earlier.
Cons: We were informed that the hotel is up for sale, so improvement might be done under new ownership.
Location: The location was close to Charleston and was easy to travel from hotel to main highway.
The hotel upkeep was poor for the cost of the room. The toilet was discussing, and not clean from previous stay. We had to clean it before we could use it. Asked for water view, ended with a parking lot view, requested for it to be changed and told couldn't be done.

Such a great find! Loved my stay here!

Posted Apr 12, 2015
Pros: Location was so convenient. Staff was outstanding. Fridge & microwave in room. Balcony was great.
Cons: Coin laundry for guests would be helpful. Local laundromat recently closed.
I booked this hotel while heading south from NJ to Atlanta upon a great recommendation from a hotel manager in Virginia, who stays here when she visits Charleston. I wanted to stay outside of the city, but closeby. This location was ideal to get around to the entire area easily. The rates were reasonable. I booked one night at this property, but kept extending my stay because I didn't want to leave! I stayed 4 nights! The morning front desk representative, Wendy, was SO helpful!! She gave me such good tips on where to go for the best happy hours and local flavor. She even gave me a coupon for a free appetizer at the restaurant across the creek, which was awesome! The evening representative, Chad, was the most polite and courteous young man I have met. He was training an equally polite and courteous front desk rep named Lucas, who will be another asset to this inn. Lucas is like a walking encyclopedia...knows something about every topic you can think of!! The room was clean and the housekeeping staff was quiet in the early-morning hours. (Doors do slam loudly though). The free continental breakfast was adequate. Coffee was fresh 24/7. I didn't use the pool but it looked nice. The deck extends and connects to a very busy bar/restaurant which has an amazing happy hour! I had 2 drinks and an appetizer for $9.00!!! While sitting outside, you can see dolphins jumping around the marina. Getting downtown took just about 10 minutes and the beaches were closeby too. Boardwalks over
