Nice Hotel, great staff

Posted Jul 6, 2014
Pros: Rooms, staff and restaurant were all excellent
Cons: Slightly larger bathroom.
Location: Locate about 15 min walk from the Market or "Center of the French Quarter, but also convienent to King Street restaurants and Col. of Charleston.
Spent 5 days and enjoyed historic Charleston. Staff was efficient, very friendly and helpful. King Suite Room was very nice and spacious.

A fabulous place in Charleston!

Posted Jul 4, 2014
The Francis Marion Hotel has been my favorite place to stay in Charleston for many years. The staff is consistently helpful,so accommodating and remembers their guests on return visits making you feel special. The location is great since it is on King Street, close to all the walking sites, shops and restaurants while facing the park that holds the farmers' market every Saturday. Now that Upper King has great eateries it is a close walk to any number of places.

Historic, up-scale, yet affordable

Posted Jul 2, 2014
Pros: I liked having a Concierge on-site to provide information and recommendations. I liked the beautiful lobby, room d├ęcor and view from 11th floor.
Location: Great location near College of Charleston, shopping on King Street, Starbucks on same corner. We walked everywhere but free trolley also an option.
My daughter and I made a quick trip to Charleston, arriving on a Sunday around noon. We weren't expecting to check in until 4:00 but they had a room ready so we unloaded and then parked in the parking deck provided (for $16/ night- not per 24-hrs, because we were there for about 27).

Overpriced

Posted Jun 29, 2014
While this hotel has a great location on King Street, when we arrived they "upgraded" us to a huge awkward room without the types of beds we booked. That meant we had to bring in a rollaway. The hotel staff was pleasant, but I didn't find it to be the type of service, cleanliness, or amenities you expect for this price range

Great bell and desk staff. Mediocre concierge help. Beautiful lobby. Room unclean and bordering on shabby.

Good location to historic district

Location: Definitely eat at Hank's Seafood. It is within walking distance and well worth the visit. The She Crab soup and the seafood tower are fantastic.
Fabulous historic hotel near shopping and restaurants. The lobby is exquisite and the staff very friendly and helpful. Bathrooms are small, since it is an old property, but the room was very comfortable. Nice beds, too. We did not have any street noise even though the hotel is on King St. Will return again.
