Close to great restaurants and downtown area.

Posted May 21, 2015
Pros: It was in a great location. The room was very nicely decorated and comfortable.
Location: Only 3/4 of a mile from the Fort Sumter boat tour.
We had a great stay at the Francis Marion. The staff members were very friendly and gave us recommendations for site seeing and restaurants.

Close to the historic district and shopping

Posted May 19, 2015
Pros: proximity to all I needed
Cons: see above
Location: see above
Had a suite which was ok, the bathroom was extremely small; the traffic noise from the street was really loud even though we were 9 stories up. Its a nice old hotel that could desperately use some renovations.

Great location, the Swamp Fox restaurant was a nice dining experience, especially the shrimp and grits.

Beautiful restored historic hotel in Charleston.

Posted Apr 25, 2015
Pros: I liked the old character of this hotel, like I was stepping back in time.
Only stayed for 1 night. The room was very nice. We had two queen beds and a great view. We were on the 8th floor. Hotel staff were very friendly. We walked into downtown and rode the trolley back.

Stately hotel in a great location

Posted Apr 25, 2015
Pros: A grand hotel
Location: On King Street, so very well placed for restaurants and shops - on the second sunday of the month they close King Street for a street market!
I stayed here for one night. The room wasn't vast but was very comfortable - bathrooms are very small, however! I made use of the bar, which did very good cocktails. The hotel is very well located on King Street, next to shops and restaurants.

Good location.

Posted Apr 21, 2015
Pros: Good location, food choices, quality experience.
Cons: Two queens instead of two doubles would be more suitable for a party of 3 or 4.
Location: Location was perfect with the ability to walk just about everywhere in the historic district.
Everything was wonderful at the Francis Marion. I cannot say enough about the professionalism of the staff and the beauty of the hotel. The convenience of the Swamp Fox restaurant and Starbucks in the location was greatly appreciated.

Very good first-timer location in Charleston

Posted Apr 20, 2015
Pros: Great location in Charleston
Cons: Furnishings are dated. Some staff is non-committed while others are great.
Location: Right next to Charleston Community College, so the area has a young, vibrant feel.
Walk either way on King Street to experience Charleston as it is now. Trending shops southeast of the Hotel; local merchandise to the west. Old Charleston is further south and a street or two east (toward the harbor).
