Elegant hotel with great staff

Best staff I have ever dealt with. Small homey touches and interactions with staff that made me feel like I had found long lost friends.

Historic Stay

Posted May 8, 2014
Pros: We liked the historic charm, the staff and the location in the historic district.
Cons: Was surprised to be billed for a booking fee from a company in Florida, having made the reservation through Expedia. What's up with that?
Location: You are in the heart of historic Charleston. It doesn't get any better.
We spent 2 nights on my wife's first experience in Charleston. The hotel was everything I expected. The happy hour was fun.

Perfectly convenient and comfortable.

My husband and I treated ourselves to three nights away from our five children in my favorite city in South Carolina. The Meeting Street Inn couldn't be more convenient for walking everywhere. It's elegantly shabby, a bit worn, but the staff are helpful and friendly, bed was sooooo comfortable. We would stay again in a heartbeat.

Very well situated in the heart of downtown

Posted Apr 20, 2014
Pros: Staff. Breakfast. Proximity to key sites. Location.
Cons: Overall exterior maintenance. Some repainting is needed, touching up the walkway floors, TV cabinet doors wouldn't stay open.
Location: Prime location. No lack of things to do within walking distance. They have a shuttle service that took other guests to city locations (we walked).
1) Welcoming to us and our children (<9yo). 2) Friendly, courteous staff. 3) Quiet rooms. 4) Breakfast was more than adequate, possibly repetitive if staying over 4 days, but a welcome start to the day. Kids enjoyed having breakfast there. 5) Pre-dinner wine/cheese was pleasant. Enjoyed meeting other guests and discussing various things to see/do in Charleston. 6) Location was awesome. We were in easy walking distance to restaurants (fine dining and cheaper fare), tourism sights, and shopping. Directly(ish) across from the Old Market. Found it very easy to get to from outlying places and back (Sullivan Island 20min, Folly Beach 20min, Charles Towne historic park 15min). 7) Rooms were a bit small, but given the price point and that it's a B&B (we had 2 Queen beds as well), the rooms were appropriate and adequate for our needs (we spent 80% of each day outside touring around).

Location, location, location!

Posted Nov 30, 2013
Pros: Location
Cons: Loud in-room airconditioner.
The Inn is in a great location, close to the Market, shopping, the best Charleston restaurants, etc.. Breakfast is provided, as well as wine & cheese every evening. Parking has become a slight inconvenience, as it's now located a couple of blocks away, but the staff does everything they can to help you, providing shuttle service & luggage handling. While the rooms are comfortable, the heating/air conditioner was quite loud.
