Old and worn. Rude staff.

Posted Oct 7, 2014
The staff was rude and didn't care. Rooms were not made up until after 5:30. Overall feel of the hotel was not clean. We had to upgrade because the room had a window that looked out on a passageway inside. It cost us $80 a night extra.

Thank you for coming to visit us at The Palms Oceanfront Hotel! It is disheartening to read that you felt our desk staff was rude and did not care about you and your experience. They did a poor job of making you feel welcome and warm and that is unacceptable. I will address this with all of my Front Desk staff immediately. According to your comments, it appears you upgraded to an Oceanfront room. I apologize that the third party you booked through was not transparent with all the amenities of one of our interior rooms. As you wrote, our interior rooms only have one window that look out on the hallway. I am sorry this was not made more clear to you. Also, having your room not made up until after 5:30 is unacceptable. Our Housekeeping staff does stay as long as it takes to get the job done but they should have been much more timely than they were. I take all of your comments very seriously and will work diligently on addressing all of these issues! Thank you for taking the time to leave a review with your comments. All the best, Reid M. Leaky roof ruined our stay. Food was bad. Desk folks were impolite. Elevator was squeaky. Door card did not work. Carpet smelled.

Thank you for coming to visit us at The Palms Oceanfront Hotel! I was saddened to read that your stay was less than satisfactory. During a rain storm, we did recently discover a leak in on of the rooms. That room was not used until the leak was fixed. It was out of order for several days. I apologize that you were the ones that had to discover this issue. I know how that looks on us and our facility. I also want to apologize for the attitude of our Front Desk staff. It is unacceptable that they were impolite to you and I will discuss and retrain them on how to handle out guests. We are aware of the concerns relating to the elevator. Due to these concerns, this winter we will be installing a brand new elevator. Unfortunately, we will be without an elevator for a short period of time but we know it will be well worth it. I truly apologize for all aspects of your stay and that we failed you in numerous ways. I would like you to know that we are going through many changes and enhancements. I hope that you come back again to experience everything we are doing to improve this property. All the best, Reid M. Assistant General Manager

Thank you for staying with us at The Palms Oceanfront Hotel! I was excited to read that you enjoyed so many aspects of your stay. The proximity to the beach and the great restaurants only help in making our property such a desirable place to stay! I apologize for the inefficiency of our housekeeping department and the inconsistent service you received. This clearly lessened the experience you had with us and will address this issue with our staff today. I truly hope you decide to come see us again in the near future! All the best, Reid M. Hotel in the beach

The best thing to say about the hotel was that it was on the beach with a great view.

Thank you for visiting us at The Palms Oceanfront Hotel! Our beach front location is wonderful and is the one of the great things about this property. The second floor pool, ability to walk to all surrounding restaurants and shops, and proximity to downtown Charleston make this hotel very attractive to our out of town guest. I am sorry that you did not enjoy all the aspects of your stay. I wish I had the ability to fully understand where we went wrong and how we can improve the experience at this property. Thank you for taking the time to write leave a review and apologize we did not meet your expectations. All the best, Reid M. Assistant General Manager

worst hotel experience of my life

Posted Sep 25, 2014
Pros: the only nice thing about the hotel was the location. walking distance to the beach.
Cons: more staff for cleaning and staff who cares about the customers.
Location: great location
The first thing, we did not receive the king size bed we booked. when we got to the room there was a stain on the sheet which was on top of the covers, why sheets were on top I'm not sure. when we requested a different room we were told that we booked through a third party, Expedia. I was treated like they could do nothing. I don't care if I booked through Expedia or your ex wife I paid over two hundred a night for the room. I found coffee grounds in the coffee maker from the last guest and the microwave had not been cleaned for some time. the TV had a long scratch that showed a white line on every show and there was no list for the channels. and to top off the experience the tub didn't drain so I stood in nasty water while I showered. The hotel had nasty bags of maybe sand stored in the stairwell which smelled of mold, bags of dirty linens scattered about the hall way and the next day we didn't get maid service until after five of which she emptied the trash and gave us towels no new coffee nor did they make the bed. they charged us 16 dollars for parking which was a block away.

Andy, Thank you for visiting us at The Palms Oceanfront Hotel! I was sad to read your review and see that we failed you in so many ways. We would have loved to move you into a different room, one that would have met your needs. Our front desk staff was correct in informing you that all changes in reservations booked with a third party must go through the third party first. It is one of the policies that third party reservation sites have set in place and we are forced to follow. I apologize that our staff did not handle your concerns with more care and that the third party site was not transparent during your booking process. Your other concerns about the room are our shortcomings. The housekeeping staff should have done a more thorough job of inspecting the room before your arrival. I will take the time today to speak with them and ensure these mistakes do not happen again. I am truly sorry that your experience here was less than desirable and I hope you choose to stay with us next time you visit the Isle of Palms! All the best, Reid M. Assistant General Manager

What really matters?

Posted Sep 19, 2014
Pros: Room was clean, no odors, and everything was satisfactory. I would not rate this a 4 star but definitely a high 3 versus a low 3. I was in 207.
Location: Several beach type restaurants (pizza, ice cream, etc.) next door and across the small street/walkway and a grocery store about 5 blocks away.
I was concerned abt this property after reading the reviews.I decided to take a chance since my trip was last minute & properties directly on the beach in area seem to be limited. Yes, it would be nice if the outside was properly maintained but I had to remember this was not a Ritz on the beach and I was not sleeping outside! With that being said, here is some general info. There is no help with unloading or loading your car. Short term check in/check out parking is located under the building which is good if raining when you arrive. Carts are available for your use then you move the car to the lot. Check in was no problem, a charge for parking across a small street to gravel lot.Total for 3 days was about $22.00. Now, for the exterior of the property...this is the total fault of property management. Why can't they daily sweep or blow off the walkways of all the sand? Why can't they dump the mat in the elevator of the all sand at the end of each day? Why can't the sidewalks and open stairwells be pressured cleaned every now and then? Why can't the area where the picnic tables/children's are located at least be raked? These are simple, easy maintenance tasks that would add a lot to the overall appearance. Sorta made me crazy that so little would add so much to this property. This property could be a real jewel!

Mak, Thank you for staying with us at The Palms Oceanfront Hotel! I greatly appreciate you taking the time to write a review of our property. Many of the concerns you expressed are being addressed as we speak. We are going through some construction and many other changes. Some of the exterior maintenance you wrote about is quite difficult to maintain during these events but a necessity nonetheless. Pressuring washing of the entire property is a task that will be taken care of this winter but is difficult to accomplish during our busy season when occupancy is high every night. We are constantly working to change and improve the property and your comments do not fall on deaf ears. Thank you for taking the time and we hope to see you again! All the best, Reid M. Great Location. Bad Hotel.

Posted Sep 12, 2014 on Hotels.com
Sadly i wish the review was a 5 star one , however the overflowing toilet, terrible wait staff, lack of hot water, as well as generally run down accommodations make me leave a sub par score. The location was amazing however, even off season the beach and waters were warm, Isle of Palms as well as Charleston were a dream, too bad the stay did not add to the experience.

The hotel was very nice and clean.

Posted Sep 9, 2014
Pros: Clean
Cons: breakfast
Our room was very nice and clean. The only thing is there was a long line for breakfast and very little to chose from. They had a pancake maker but it was extremely slow hence the long line.

Strandnähe und das war es

Posted Sep 8, 2014
Staubig, Spinnweben. Zudem bedarf es wohl einer Renovierung. Zimmer, Frühstücksraum sehr veraltet. Balkon reichte direkt in den benachbarten Beach Club Banana Cabana, daher hatten wir direkte Livemusik - Interpret in ca. 10 Meter Entfernung. Parkplatz nicht direkt am Hotel.
