Cons: put blankets in the room, keep doors from slamming.

Fan from hell

Posted Jan 5, 2015
Pros: location
Cons: needs updating -have to login EVERY TIME you want to use the internet even though its free
Location: Its Charleston area so plenty. Sea Biscuit and Acme Grill are very good
Great location on beach Finding parking is up to you.... Fan extractor in bathroom made a horrendous noise- when I told the front desk the comment was "but did it work OK?" You get what you pay for here and it was relatively inexpensive

Thank you for coming to stay with us at The Palms Oceanfront Hotel! I was happy to read that you were able to take advantage of our fantastic location. With the hotel located on the ocean and walking distance from so many great restaurant, it makes it hard not to enjoy yourself. This time of year, parking is free everywhere on the Isle of Palms. Now and during the busy summer months, we have a parking lot dedicated for our guest. In the summer, there is a charge for parking in that lot and everywhere else. In the winter, we give our guest the option to park wherever is most convenient to them. It is never out intention to make this a burden. I apologize if this was not explained in the detail to you at check-in. I am truly sorry for the loud noise the fan in the bathroom made. I also apologize for the lack of urgency that was had in getting this issue resolved. The fan should have never caused such a disturbance and if it was we should have address your concerns immediately. I hope you will come see us again soon, either this winter or in the coming beach season! All the best, Reid M. Assistant General Manager

December Stay at Palms Oceanfront

Posted Dec 30, 2014
Pros: The hotel is located right on the beach with some rooms looking out over the ocean.
Cons: The parking garage was under repair but we were able to park for free on the street in front of the hote.
Location: The hotel is a 20 minute drive from downtown Charleston and 30 minutes from Magnolia Plantation and Gardens
This hotel has a very courteous and friendly staff. The room was comfortable and clean and it is located on a quiet street with little traffic.

Thank you for coming to stay with us at The Palms Oceanfront Hotel and we appreciate you taking the time to leave such a wonderful review! Our staff takes a lot of pride in their work and they love being at the Isle of Palms as much as you do! The housekeepers have been working hard to keep the rooms spotless and I am happy to read that you noticed. Coming to the Isle of Palms in the winter is a peaceful time compared to some of the busy summer weekends. The ocean views on these beaches really can not be beat. We are looking forward to seeing you again soon! All the best, Reid M. Assistant General Manager

Huge disappointment

Staff was super nice. Room condition was poor and outdated....huge disappointment. Website is very deceiving. I wanted to be near the ocean and so I paid the price receiving low budget quality.

Thank you for staying with us at The Palms Oceanfront Hotel! While I was glad to read that our staff took great care of you, I was dismayed to read that your experience was so poor. We are aware are of our shortcomings at this property and are doing whatever we can to ensure this hotel can be what you and I both expect. We are in the process of enhancing the rooms and doing major structural renovations to the loading/unloading area. This winter we are also installing a new elevator! I hope that you come back and see us again soon and experience all the improvements we are making. All the best, Reid M. Assistant General Manager

Pros: Not too much
Cons: Cleaniness and better maid service
Location: Everything is closed down in that town the Thanksgiving and the few days after we were there.
We knew are linens were not changed from the previous guest when we got in our bed and found a pair of women's socks in it. One day it looked as if little kids made the bed, just pulled it up.

Thank you for staying with us at The Palms Oceanfront Hotel! I am sorry for the lack of proper Housekeeping service in your room. Dirty linens are absolutely unacceptable as are poorly made beds. This is not the quality we expect out of our staff and you are justified in your comments. This is something I will address with our staff immediately. I sincerely apologize for your less than desirable experience. Please know that we are working tirelessly to improve our property and our staff. My hope is that you will choose to stay with us again in the future and be able to see all the improvements we have made. All the best, Reid M. Assistant General Manager

Thank you for coming to visit us at The Palms Oceanfront Hotel and taking the time to write a review! I apologize for the front desk staff not mentioning to you at check-in about the security deposit and city mandated one dollar destination fee. It is never our intent to hide this from our guest. We do the best we can to communicate all this information on our website, with signage on the Front Desk, and the registration card given to each guest at check-in. I will speak to the staff about ensuring communication about these authorizations and fees. This time of year, all parking on the Isle of Palms is complimentary. In the peak season, we have a parking lot across the street for our guests. Unfortunately, due to space and city codes, we can not have any overnight parking on the hotel property. I am glad that you had a chance to come view one of the most beautiful beaches in the Carolinas and i truelove hope you come see us again soon! All the best, Reid M.

Pros: Location is great and beach is beautiful.
Cons: Cell and internet coverage, as well as TV rental movies.
Location: Gorgeous beach, great for walking. The village has fun beach shops. We loved discovering the Acme Lowcountry Kitchen right around the corner.
Wonderful location but do not stay unless you get a room with an outside balcony. We did not book one and we were very sorry. No cell reception in room and unable to rent a movie on the television. They held $150 on credit card for "incidentals" which is common practice, but we couldn't have charged anything if we wanted to! Cute village location and a couple of fun restaurants nearby.

Thank you for coming to see us at The Palms Oceanfront Hotel! Our rooms with balconies, the coastal and oceanfront rooms, provide amazing views of the picturesque Isle of Palms beaches. I am sorry you did not have one during your stay, but there is always next time! I do understand your frustration with the $150 deposit and the lack of ability to charge movies back to your account. The deposit is set up to cover any damages or loss that is incurred by the property. I apologize if this was misleading. We were glad to read you enjoyed your stay so much and we hope to see you again soon! All the best, Reid M. Assistant General Manager

Worst customer service I have ever received.

Posted Nov 10, 2014
Pros: Not a single thing.
Cons: Absolutely everything.
Location: Do not eat at Coconut Joes! The seafood does not taste fresh and the server overcharged us on the tip. We had to call up there to get it corrected.
What compliants do I not have? Carol, the front desk agent, was rude to the customer ahead of us at check in. (Apparently its an absolutely rediculous question to ask if the hotel has a hot-tub.) The elevator was broken at check in. The room looked like what you would find at Motel 6 at any highway exit. The comforter was practically non-existent. The shutters over the window barely blocked the light from the hallway. Every single noise in the hotel could be heard through the paper thin walls. Everytime someone shut a door, I woke up. The slamming of doors was so bad that we also had to wake up to people screaming down the hallways to "stop slamming the f-in doors!" Since the elevator was out, people were walking up the stair-well which most certainly could be heard loud and clear from our room. We could not sleep at all. When you stay at a hotel on the beach you would expect to have a nice relaxing "get away" but instead we choose to get on home and didnt even make it through the night. At check-out we requested to speak with the manager but Carol refused to call him. What kind of manager is unavailable when its staff receives complaints??? Whatever you do, do not stay at the Palms Oceanfront Hotel!!! They are rediculously over-priced compared to the services you receive!

Bree, Thank you for choosing to stay at The Palms Oceanfront Hotel! I am sorry to read you had such a poor experience at our property. First, I want to apologize about the way Carol addressed you and the guest in front of you. I have already spoke to her about how she handled your concerns in an effort to curb any future issues. Our elevator was down for some time. We did our best to reach out to all guests to inform them of the situation. If you book your reservation through a third party, we do not have access to any of your personal contact information. The elevator being out of order was a great burden on our guests and staff and I apologize for this. Due to the constant and heavy ocean breeze, the doors are pushed close by the wind. We are currently looking into a solution for this. A solution that will make the doors close with no noise but also quickly and securely to ensure the safety and security of our guests. I am deeply sorry that you did not enjoy your stay. It is never our intent for our guests to have a less than wonderful experience here. Thank you for taking the time to write a review and leave your concerns. All the best, Reid M.
