Fantastic place to stay in Charleston!
Posted Jan 15, 2013
Pros: The attention to every little detail like the cocktails, cookies and breakfast; as well as how helpful every staff member was.
Cons: There was nothing I could think to improve.
Location: It is in the heart of the shopping district. We walked to visit Fort Sumter, restaurants, shopping, carriage tours; drove to a tea plantation, winery.
This small boutique hotel was quite a wonderful surprise. It is right on King Street in the midst of all the best shopping. The hotel itself is beautiful and is more like a perfectly decorated warehouse loft than a hotel room. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and everything was perfect! We could walk to most of the sights that we wanted to see and all of the restaurants that we wanted to eat in. The lady at the desk recommended all of the places we ate in and each was better than the last. There was a festival that kept us from parking near by, the bellman insisted on going to retrieve our car and navigating the back way to bring our car to us while we waited at the hotel. From 5 to 6 every night in the lobby there was wine and cheese, from 8 until 9 there was cookies and milk or a glass of port. Continental breakfast was delivered in a picnic basket to our door every morning. It was a delightful trip.

Felt Like Home in Historic Charleston
Posted Jan 27, 2013
Location: Shopping on King Street, fantastic restaurants within walking distance, Marion Square, Waterfront Park, The Battery, South of Broad, to name a few.
I don't even know where to begin and know that I will leave something important out, but this small boutique hotel was amazing. We walked into the suite and immediately felt like we were home. It contained all of the modern conveniences and was huge. The staff was friendly, gave us several very good restaurant and sightseeing recommendations, and even went to CVS when we needed some OTC products. They lent us bicycles for the day to tour Charleston, at no charge, they offered to food shop for us, had wine and cheese every day before dinner, and milk or coffee and cookies before bed. The full kitchen was stocked with coffee, tea, water, and sodas when we arrived and we were never lacking for towels of any sort. There was even a washer and dryer, but hey I was on vacation :) The staff was always pleasant, but we did have our favorites. The only complaint we had was that when the rooms were built there was not sufficient noise/sound barriers put in place, but the manager offered to move us to rooms on the top floor, sent us up a bottle of wine to help us sleep, and they had a noise blocking machine put in our bedroom! We will definitely be back and also recommend this little gem of a hotel so perfectly located to friends and family.

Fabulous hotel and staff in the heart of town.

Pros: The huge amount of space in the condo. You can really spread out and also can use the fully stocked kitchen to cook if you are so inclined.
Cons: You could hear the people walking around above you, try and book the top floor. It will be quieter and have a better view.
Location: Perfect. You can walk everywhere in the historic district from this hotel. If you don't want to walk, they will quickly get you a pedicab
We were 5 women celebrating a big birthday and the hotel was perfect. We had a 2 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath condo that was spotless and huge and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Breakfast delivered daily, champagne waiting in the room, booked restaurants and pedicabs and gave us great advise. The hotel is walking distance to everything and shopping is right outside your door on King Street and only a couple of blocks to Charleston Place and the Market. Loved Ashley at the front desk and Sam(from my home town Rochester!). They couldn't have been nicer to us. I would absolutely recommend this hotel and plan on staying there again in the future.

Incredible location, suites, and staff!
Posted Jan 20, 2013
Pros: Exceptional location, beautiful suites, and an outstanding staff.
My wife and I stayed at the ROK for our 10 year anniversary and could not have been happier. All the rooms are suites and they were beautifully decorated with granite countertops, stainless appliances, tile/glass showers, and incredibly comfortable bedding. (Speaking of pillows, they have 6 types to choose from, all complimentary.) Each day there is a wine hour and milk and cookies in the evening. Every morning we received complimentary breakfast delivered to our room. The staff (Howard and Sam in particular) were amazing in making sure our stay was perfect. Sam had stocked groceries for us prior to our arrival and put out an anniversary gift for my wife to find when she arrived. The location, right on King Street and Wentworth, is perfect for shopping and an easy walk to anywhere downtown. Street noise was a non-issue thanks to great soundproofing and even on a hot day the A/C was easily able to keep our room chilly.

Beautiful hotel, perfectly located.

Pros: I especially loved the use of bicycles, afternoon wine and cheese and evening cookies and port.
Cons: The breakfast was not very good....dried out baked goods. It was a little noisy.
Wonderful stay in a fabulous hotel. More of an apartment than a hotel, with full kitchen, family room and separate bedroom. The staff was very welcoming and attentive.

Restoration on King
Posted Jan 4, 2013
Cons: Allow door from King St to staircase be opened by guests. My key didnt open the door and there was a sign that said "please use wentworth entrance".
I have wanted to stay here for a couple of years, but was lucky to find an Expedia special rate when I planned to come to Charleston to assist my son move back home from CofC. What a great place! This is set up as a luxury apartment hotel with hotel amenities. My apartment overlooked King St. While that location was entertaining, it wasn't terribly pleasant in the middle of the night when late night youngsters took to the streets. However, I can handle that - I have stayed at Charleston Place many times and enjoy that, but I will probably end up at Restoration the next time I am in Charleston. One more thing - if you have ever rented a short term luxury apartment in Charleston, consider checking out Restoration on King instead. Apartment rentals are great, but renters must pay cleaning fees and other "hidden" fees and not have the amenities available at Restoration. I think Restoration is a much better value -

Quality Boutique hotel in upscale area.
Posted Jan 2, 2013
Pros: Real new boutique feel to it. Condo style rooms.
Cons: Front desk staff
Location: Great location. Upscale shopping on King Street underneath hotel and down street.
Very nice hotel in a very upscale part of town. Easy walk to most interesting areas. Hotel is a well maintained facility yet the front desk staff could be more knowledgeable and helpful. Need to be better trained. I would recommend it for it's large rooms. I would suggest not staying on King St side due to some night time noise from bar hoppers. The room is more like a loft condo with full kitchen and high ceilings. Neat place and u get breakfast delivered to your room in a big wicker basket. Good service.

Pros: size of 2 bedroom suite
Cons: tv didnt have hd
I've stayed in several hotels in Charleston (Charleston Place, Francis Marion, Mills House). Restoration on King rates above all. It is quaint, spacious, ideal location, friendly and helpful staff. It was my mother's 80th birthday, and they sent us a bottle of champagne to celebrate. The small hotel is expensive, but well worth it, expecially for a special occasion.

GREAT HOTEL FOR ANYONE
Posted Jan 20, 2013
Pros: Rooms and service offered
Cons: Nothing to complain about
Location: Perfect location...walking distance to the great restaurants, mansions, market, and bay. Doesn't get any better.
This is nicest place I've stayed, the service was amazing and everyone was very helpful to make the trip pleasant and easy. They took care of calling taxis or anything else we needed. There was wine and cheese in the afternoon and cookies and milk in the evening. Whenever we go back to visit we will ONLY stay at this hospitable hotel. They really were so wonderful all the way around.
