A luxury refuge when exploring CharlestonPosted Oct 1, 2014
Pros: The great size/quality of the suite. Good service. The location - perfect for exploring Charleston, very quiet, and 'safe' feeling. The breakfasts!
Cons: A very minor issue which wouldn't bother most people - an option of a flatter pillow.
Location: Most of the historic sights within easy walking distance: City market; Museum Mile; the 'Rainbow' houses; Waterfront Park. King Street shopping
Restoration is perfectly situated for exploring Charleston on foot, with most of the 'sights' within easy walking distance. Being situated in the retail part of King Street also means that it is very handy for shopping expeditions! We treated ourselves to a luxury one bedroom suite on the third (top) floor which had its own, sizeable, private terrace. Nothing much to see in the way of views from either this or the hotel's roof terrace, but having the outside space was nice to be able to catch the late afternoon sun we had for a couple of days when we were there. The standard of the accommodation is very high, both in terms of the facilities provided in the suite and the cleanliness and service. Note that if you want to make use of the well equipped kitchens you will probably have to either bring food with you or drive to the nearest supermarket. We only found a couple of very basic convenience stores and a couple of high end delis within walking distance. As previously reported, a good breakfast is, however, available every morning delivered to your room in a picnic basket. Wine and cheese and cookies and hot chocolate were also available each evening in the reception area. Privacy and quietness are, in general, excellent - but we were disturbed by work on a building opposite (a couple of times through the night) whilst we were there. Not cheap, but having stayed in a number of boutique hotels in the USA this is by far the best we have experienced.

Great hotel in CharlestonPosted Sep 30, 2014
Pros: The size of the rooms. Everything was so modern for an old hotel.
Cons: There were many bed pillows on the bed. Some of them smelled bad but we were able to find good ones.
Location: It rained very much and did not have a chance to check out the are too much. But what we saw was good.
The hotel was so much better then I expected. The staff were very helpful. I would stay there again for sure.

Charleston comfortPosted Jul 14, 2014
Cons: The Restoration is in the midst of a major expansion. We hope that, once completed, it will not destroy the homey atmosphere.
Location: The Restoration is in the heart of all that's happening in Charleston. We walked to many great restaurants and shops.
We loved The Restoration on King. The hotel rooms are former condos. Ours was beautiful and included a beautiful bedroom, huge shower, large living room and full kitchen. We can't wait to return.

An apartment in the middle of prime areaPosted Jun 6, 2014
Very nice, nearly new. Location is walkable to most of prime Charleston, especially shopping. Staff is attentive, but not the services of a larger hotel. Breakfast basket is a great touch, pastries should be special given the local bakeries, but are very ordinary. Little things could make this a legit five star- make sure sinks aren't clogged, stock with more and better towels and robes, up the breakfast a touch from local sources, etc... Easy choices.

Elegant and comfortablePosted Jun 6, 2014 on Hotels.com
Loved this hotel! More like a condo or apartment. Nightly turn down service, evening wine and cheese, or later in the evening cookies and milk. Complimentary European style continental breakfast delivered to your room in the cutest basket I have ever seen. Truly a hotel to remember.

Restoration on King ----location and gymPosted Jun 5, 2014
Aside from the informal full service atmosphere, which I'm sure all others have noted, one important feature of the hotel is its location. In short ---- perfect. It is right in the middle of town with an easy walk anywhere. In addition the free Green Line trolly stops right by the hotel on the SW corner of Wentworth and King. They are building an additional 35 rooms at the hotel which I hope won't detract from the intimate atmosphere. A word about the exercise facility. If you want a spa don't come here. If you want a full gym with 10 running machines and a variety of equipment it's all you need.. They have an arrangement with the Echo fitness center which is a quarter of a block away. Nothing fancy --- it's a gym not a spa but you can do your workout and walk back to your room at the hotel for a shower. We'd stay here again if we returned to Charleston.
