Very nice hotel and helpful staff

Lovely room and very comfortable bed. Valet parking was only $20. Restaurant and rooftop bar at the hotel were great too!

Gteat hotel in a great location

Walking distance to dining, shops and historic homes. Lovely, rustic property with lots of charm. Excellent restaurant, too! Would definitely stay again!

within walking distance of great bars/restaurants

Posted Jan 12, 2015
Pros: Everything!
The hotel staff was so kind and helpful and the rooms were so warm and comfy. It was my husbands birthday, so the hotel surprised us with a bottle of champagne. The concierge made reservations for us at a nearby restaurant and recommended several things for us to go see and do. We had a fabulous stay. We will be visiting The Vendue again!

Great location but needs a facelift

Posted Jan 10, 2015
Cons: Pictures should reflect actual room
When I booked the room, it was not clear that I was booking/paying for the older (non-renovated) section. All of the pictures showed the renovated section, which led me to believe that was the room I was getting.

Unwelcoming staff, dirty room

Posted Jan 6, 2015
Pros: Reputation.
Cons: Hotel staff friendliness, cleanliness of room.
Check-in staff unwelcoming. Had to carry my own bags and stood waiting for several minutes awkwardly without any concern from reception staff. As a woman checking into a Southern hotel, I was surprised that neither of the gentleman at the reception desks stood to welcome me or offer to help me with my bags. Room was dusty and side tables smeared with a substance. Lobby was much nicer than my room. Upon checkout I asked for a taxi. Had to carry my own bags curbside and waited for at least 15 minutes by myself. This hotel is overpriced and disappointing.

The room was very small with no view but it had character and was just enough space for our short visit.

Disappointing experience.

Posted Jan 4, 2015
Pros: Complimentary bike rental.
Cons: Cleanliness, comfort, basic amenities, pricing, fulfilling promised experience.
Location: Great location, nearby restaurants, can walk to anything in the city from hotel.
Went for my honeymoon with great expectations. Our room was not cleaned thoroughly, soap scum accumulated and a film of dust was clearly visible on furniture. Room was tiny and had no window, not nearly enough space for 2 adults for only 5 nights. I understand that this is a 300 year old building, but the ambiance does not make up for discomfort. We were recommended one restaurant and a taxi company (which picked us up almost half an hour later on our way to the airport), but the staff was otherwise unhelpful when it came to transportation around the city. Walls were thin and we had to walk back and forth from the main hotel building (across the street) if we needed anything. Bikes were helpful, but we were heavily disappointed in everything else, especially considering the boastful advertising.

Would definitely return, we were able to walk to all our scheduled dinners and activities. The room was very clean and the bathroom was recently renovated. We had a lovely stay.

Good Hotel - Not Worth the Pretty Penny

Posted Dec 15, 2014
Cons: New Matresses
The Hotel looks great from the outside and is nicely furnished on the inside. I believe it was just renovated not too long ago. The location is great and is the best part about it, right wear all of the action is. However, because it is an old building, the rooms are noisy and tight. Furthermore, the mattress my wife and I slept on was terrible. I personally did not get more than a couple hours of a night. Needless to say, not what I was looking forward to on my vacation. The concierge was helpful and first rate. The cleaning staff however, did keep the room clean, but they came and went into our room several times a day, even when we left up our privacy signs while we were away. They also left garments of their own clothing in the room and had to pick them up after we returned for the evening. Again, overall, not a bad hotel - but that just may be my singular experience as opposed to anyone else staying there.
