Well worth the money!

Pros: Common Areas (lobby, pool) and Beach Access
Cons: The balconies are too small and tend to have no furniture on them.
Location: Rita's is amazing!! And make your way over to Pearlz!!
Exceptionally polite staff! Fantastic common areas! Right on the beach!! Average rooms that are very clean with excellent AC. Perfect spot for pool, beach and hanging out at the beach!

Beachfront Stay

Posted May 6, 2015
Pros: The staff was great; so friendly and accommodating. The location is unbelievable as well. I loved that there were always chairs outside on the beach.
Cons: Our bathroom was not good. The shower sprayed all over, the faucet leaked 24/7, the door would not close (maybe swelling due to weather).
Location: Great location. The famous Folly pier is right outside the hotel. The beachfront is amazing. Lots of bars, restaurants, etc. very close.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Tides on Folly beach. My husband and I had never been to the Charleston area before and decided to stay outside of the city to get a bit of a beach experience. The hotel was located right on the beach, our room looked out at the water and every morning we got to watch the surfers in the water trying to catch a wave. there were volleyball courts on the sand and the hotel is right in front of the famous Folly Beach Pier. There are lots of restaurants and bars to walk to for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The staff was very very friendly and approachable. there is a coffee shop on the first floor, which is really convenient for early mornings. The pool was clean and lovely, although we really enjoyed the great chairs and lounges by the pool a bit more than the water (it was kind of cold during the week we were there). It's a short 30 minute drive from the airport, and an even faster 20-minute ride to downtown Charleston. Two things: I wish the balcony was a bit bigger. I would have loved to sit out there but there wasn't even a chair. Also, the bathroom was kind of a mess. The door didn't close unless you slammed it/put all of your weight against it (perhaps due to swelling in the humid weather?). The shower leaked and made the floor wet (like puddles, not just a little spray) and it really needed a bit more careful cleaning. It really wouldn't keep me from coming back, but it's good to know. We would definitely return to the Tides.

Our stay at the tides was fantastic. The staff was friendly, room was clean, and parking was easy too. We traveled with a 7 month old baby and I felt the hotel was very family friendly.

Great island town. Hotel location was great.

Pros: Great location/fair.
Hotel check-in staff were friendly and efficient. Hotel right in the middle of island & eating/drinking establishments. Low key, island feel. Hotel room was nice size with ocean views, but I believe hotels allows pets as rooms smelled a bit.

Having never been to SC for vacation, we were blown away by the whole experience. The Tides is wonderful! The staff are so friendly and helpful. They really work hard to make sure the guest is happy. The beaches are beautiful, clean and a great place to learn how to surf! Check out Josh and Andy with Charleston Surf, they are located at the hotel. The town of Folly Beach is really nice. Great shops and restaurants. Breakfast at The Lost Dog Cafe is a must! We will definitely visit The Tides again!!!
