Comfortable beach hotel

Posted Jun 30, 2015
Folly Beach Hotel was ideally located for a friend's wedding on the beach. Our room was comfortable with a great view over the beach and pier. We could watch numerous pelicans from the balcony throughout the day. Pool was fine, as was the ocean. Only minor drawback was the noisy air conditioning unit.

Great hotel right on the beach

Posted Jun 17, 2015
Pros: Expansive rooms, up-to-date furnishings, right on the beach, good restaurant.
Cons: I can't think of anything
Location: Folly is a beach town, scruffy around the edges and pretty crowded when we were there. We walked around a few blocks, but then came back to the hotel
This is exactly the hotel I had visualized. Coming into town from Charleston the hotel is a large slab of a building right in front of you (stay in the right lane, the left lane forces a turn). Into the parking lot, you are asked for your reservation and issued a parking tag. The lot is full, but there's a space! Into the hotel - it's 5:00 PM but the room's not ready (what?) One of the guest services people (his name is Jay - a very friendly guy) commiserates with us as we sit around waiting. Finally a phone call and the room is ready. The keys don't work. Back downstairs. Jay comes along with the new keys, opens the door, and shows us the room. A large glass door opens and there's the beach - big as life with the sound of the surf and the people and the sunshine - absolutely beautiful. Then downstairs and out the open doors directly onto the beach. This is the way it's supposed to be. Dinner on the terrace on the beach is great, eveything is nautical and sandy and terrific - we'll be back.

Not awful, not great, you may have to ask for things you want, but if you ask they'll help you out.

Nice hotel. Nice location. Some minor rm issues.

Posted May 30, 2015
Balcony overlooking a beautiful beach. It doesn't get much better than that. Some minor rm issues. We had some drawers that kept opening, ( kind of humerus ) the balcony was always wet from the air conditioner, and the sliding glass door was all smeared up. I would however stay there again.

Great all around place to stay!

Posted May 27, 2015
Pros: Location, view, cleanliness, staff.
Cons: Prices are a bit high for off season. We would come back if they weren't so steep.
Location: Right on the beach! Near Charleston and Mt. Pleasant for the Yorktown. These were great day trips.
The Tides was an excellent place for us to stay. We were vacationing but also finishing up a honeymoon that was rather short a year and a half ago. The rooms were excellent, right on the beach, awesome views, and clean and comfortable beds (something hard for us to find sometimes). We were close enough to go to Charleston and the Yorktown easily. The price is high for the size of room but it was worth the extra for a great place to stay! Thank you to an excellent staff as well and the Blu Restaurant was exceptional! It was also great to be able to walk downtown to the other great restaurants.

Pre-wedding stay

Posted May 25, 2015
Pros: The staff and of course the location.
Cons: You can tell that it has been there for a while. They seem to keep up the facilities as well as they can. Keeping a good staff attitude is great.
Location: Actually we were there for a wedding at the Folly Beach Pelican Watch. But the area is full of entertainment and things to do and see.
The staff is amazing!! I love their attitude and attention during check in and during the stay.

Well worth the money!

Posted May 18, 2015
Pros: Common Areas (lobby, pool) and Beach Access
Cons: The balconies are too small and tend to have no furniture on them.
Location: Rita's is amazing!! And make your way over to Pearlz!!
Exceptionally polite staff! Fantastic common areas! Right on the beach!! Average rooms that are very clean with excellent AC. Perfect spot for pool, beach and hanging out at the beach!

The hotel was in perfect spot. It was a little pricey.
