stay was good

Posted May 20, 2014
Cons: refinish the hottub surface. it was very rough and hurt to sit on it with a bathing suit and exposed skin
it was nice, the bottom of the hottub was VERY rough, hard to sit on without hurting your skin - other than that, nice stay

Great place to stay visiting Charleston, SC

Posted Apr 21, 2014
I haven't been to Charleston in 22 years so wasn't sure where to stay. The Wingate is located easy on and off from I-26, making it easy to get to downtown or Mt. Pleasant in 20 minutes. The staff were warm and welcoming and the breakfast was plentiful! We will stay here again!!

Stay in Charleston

Posted Apr 19, 2014
Pros: Staff is very pleasant.
Cons: Rust stains in shower could have been easily removed with a little bit of elbow grease and could easily be repaired so that the staining stops.
Location: Not within easy walking distance of any restaurants.
Hotel is at least 25 min. form downtown though access is easy by expressway. No restaurants within easy walking distance.

My stay was very pleasant and the staff was very friendly. The hotel location offers convenience and the breakfast was very tasty. I found very good value for the price of my room.

Great location for business and pleasure.

Posted Apr 1, 2014
Pros: Comfortable, great decor, breakfast was good, not great. Very good price. Great and beautiful location.
Cons: The only disappointment with our stay was that the hot tub was not hot in the morning due to automatic thermostat control. Awesome at night though.
Location: Near enough to the beach and the main cities surrounding it without the traffic.
We combined business with pleasure for the weekend. The only thing we told the staff was to address the issue of the hot tub not being ready in the mornings due to auto shut off at night. We suggested they start it back early enough so that it could be enjoyed in the morning hours. It was wonderful at night and the pool was clean even though not the season for outdoor swimming. The hot tub was one reason we booked the hotel. But every other experience was great. The room was big and very comfortable. The location is not in a high traffic area and right beside the beautiful campus of Charleston Southern University. We will definitely go here again.

Close proximety to downtown Charleston.

Hotel rooms were clean and comfortable. Hotel very well maintained. Was hard to find a parking spot near lobby entrance and had to park in the way back. Was uncomfortable walking in through back entrance so late at night. Free breakfast was decent.

Hotel good, service bad.

We stayed for two nights and both nights there were kids running all over the place (up and down the halls) well past 10pm and the employees did nothing about it. I also forgot my iPhone charger the morning we checked out and called within 3 hours of leaving. They said there was nothing left in the room even though I told them EXACTLY where it was. Just not impressed.

Nice quiet hotel.

Posted Mar 19, 2014
Pros: The peacefulness
Location: Need a car to get to any restaurants or attractions. It is right next door to College of Charleston, but didn't notice students coming or going.
It is a quiet hotel out of all the congestion & traffic. However, you do need a car to get to area attractions.

Reasonable, convenient location

Posted Mar 15, 2014
Pros: Rates and free breakfast
Cons: Air in rooms, cleanliness
Location: Fast food restaurants and gas stations...20 mins from downtown Charleston
Stayed here for 4 nights....the pros: reasonable, free parking and breakfast, nice, clean grounds that is right off the interstate. Cons: the air never worked properly..I tried and tried to get the room to cool down with no avail...I was so hot at night I never slept well...hairs on my pillows and in the shower, microwave had food all over the outside of it....very nasty. The beds were comfy but couldn't find a pillow that was comfortable(there were four)....this is the closest hotel to the interstate however, it's approximately 20 mins to downtown Charleston....if I went back I would stay in Mt Pleasant which is closer to downtown and a much nicer location. There are several fast food restaurants and gas stations located off this exit. We grabbed a quick breakfast (bagel and pastries) one morning but looked as if they had lots of items to choose from. We did the carriage ride, Boone Hall Plantation and boat tour and I would highly recommend the carriage ride and plantation but we found boat tour rather boring....lots of history and shopping in charleston....staff seemed personable except one young girl that had no personality....we stayed mar 10-14 2014. Quiet location but if you are coming from the west going east, you have to immediately cross over three lanes to get in the turning lane for the hotel entrance which sits on the same location of a university.
