Carolina Football ... Awesome hotel

Posted Sep 23, 2014
Pros: Everything
Cons: Better "smoker" area...no good way to have mixed company ...you always have a friend in the parking lot with the janitor...
Location: Shuttle goes up to 3 miles was available every time we needed it...
just a few blocks away but we had a shuttle to the game and epicenter. Bar and restaurant at the hotel were very nice, food and service were great. We had several friends in the area at other hotels and ours seemed to offer the best amenities. Rooms were quiet and very clean and cozy comfortable.

Pros: Location and newly renovated rooms.
Cons: See above.
Location: Courthouse, jail and parking. A long walk to the main area of uptown.
Hotel is still undergoing extensive renovation as a part of becoming a Fairfield by Marriott. Elevators are small. Rooms are much better than before. Closet door was broken during my staff and staff never fixed it. Lots of construction trucks and trailers. Power washing. Pool under and restaurant under renovation. It'll be much nicer once renovation is complete.

Staff was very very friendly and welcoming.

Posted Aug 29, 2014
Pros: Convince
Cons: Not pay to park at a hotel I already paid for.
The room was clean, and beds very comfortable, staff was over the top nice. There is massive construction had to dodge ladders, workers, boxes, etc... But the parking for $15.00 is ridiculous I have stayed in hotels in San Francisco, New York, and Paris and not had to pay to park. If they want payment for parking should hide it in the fees instead.

A disappointing stay in Charlotte

Posted Aug 29, 2014
Our road trip included a 1 night stop in Charlotte so I picked the Charlotte Plaza for its location, a pool to relax in after a day on the car and chose a room with a balcony. I was not given a room with a balcony and given no explanation until after I had seen the room and raised it with reception. The Supervisor at reception had no people skills although her assistant was very good. I was told that there were no balcony rooms left but that I could park the car overnight for free as compensation. Great! The pool was a building site, refurbishment program but with no notification. The main restaurant was closed for refurbishment so a temporary one is set up in a conference room and is fine. Not the biggest selection of food but adequate.

The pool will be complete in just a few days, and when finished, will offer our guests a great outdoor space. Again, my apologies, and I hope we will have the chance to serve you again soon. Hotel under construction!

Posted Aug 15, 2014
I wish I had known that the hotel was under construction/renovation. There was nothing there except my room. My room was nice and new. That was fine. But there were no real amenities available except vending machines. The staff were very nice. I just wish the listing had mentioned something. My first negative experience with Expedia and I will keep using your service and chalk this up to miscommunication.

Under renovation and not handling it well.

Posted Aug 12, 2014
Pros: The newly renovated room was clean.
Cons: Hire some honest employees.
Location: The hotel was downtown and cheaper than other downtown hotels, but the price will probably go up after renovation. Choose one of the other ones.
I knew the hotel was under renovation when I booked it, but I did not expect to have to walk under a ladder when I exited the elevator. Three desk clerks gave three different answers to the same questions, and they were standing right next to each other! It was like a comedy act. One outright lied. The descriptions of amenities in the room were based on some past or future scenarios (These were Xerox sheets, not fancy binders). Couldn't they have typed up the present situation (breakfast at one end of the ballroom, no business center available, no shuttle service available, no need for an internet password, $15 parking fee, etc.) and left it in each room?

Nice hotel. Going through renovations currently, so expect construction, but should be nice when finished. Many rooms seem to already be renovated. Comfortable king bed, air conditioning works great. Bathroom was nice and modern, with shower only, but who needs a tub at a hotel? Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Great location, but under construction

Posted Jul 29, 2014 on Hotels.com
Hotel was under construction and it took forever to get an elevator to come. In the morning we were trying to leave and the elevator took so long that we decided to take the stairs. Ended up getting lost and in the back of the hotel, there was no one to assist and we actually ran into another guest who was also lost. Very frustrating.

Average

Posted Jul 29, 2014
Our stay was average. I was in town for a conference and this was one of the host hotels. I'm not sure if the fact that we had to pay an additional $10 a day for the microwave and an additional $10 a day for wifi was a contract issue, but needless to say, that was ridiculous. The room was a little smaller than I'm accustomed to, but was fairly clean and comfortable. The bathroom sink drained very slowly, we asked for it to be looked at and there was no follow up. Likely due to the high number of guests we didn't always have enough clean towels. Some of the staff members were super helpful and friendly...some should return to customer service class. It wasn't my best hotel experience, but definitely not the worst. Overall it was an average stay. I guess at the end of the day chocolate chip cookies make everything better (which were in endless supply)!
