This was quite possibly the worst hotel stay I've ever had, and I've stayed in many hotels. Upon my arrival, I learned that the hot tub was not available, due it being outside and it being before Memorial Day (despite it being North Carolina, in May, with temperatures reaching in the 80s in the daytime). I live in Colorado, where there are hot tubs available year round in places like Summit County, even in subzero temperatures. The reason for my trip was to travel to a martial arts seminar, so the hot tub is not just a "nice to have", it is a necessity for recovery after grueling training. When I booked the reservation, I chose the hotel based on the criteria that it had a hot tub and was in close proximity to my intended destination. There was no mention of the hot tub being outside or it being closed. Needless to say, this was beyond disappointing.
The road noise was absolutely atrocious. I was repeatedly awakened by loud cars and trucks well after midnight, leading to a night of little rest. I would expect a major hotel chain to account for the road noise somehow. I've stayed in many hotels in major cities, some near airports, and never had so much trouble getting a night of restful sleep.
To top it all off, when I went to take a shower in the morning, the shower drain was backed up, so I had to cut my shower short to prevent the water from spilling out into the bathroom floor. Overall, this was a really terrible experience, especially considering the price
