conveniently located dump

Posted Apr 29, 2014
Pros: location was convenient to the university and downtown
Cons: total remodel
dirty, ripped bedspreads, bathroom had holes patched up in the tile -- the train which passes by several times in a night is literally right next to the rooms

Not worth the buck

Posted Apr 21, 2014
Cons: Dining room for breakfast is too small. Too much noise from train running nearby.
Overall it's just a motel at a 2-star level. Price too high ($109). $70 is reasonable.

Great location, price

Posted Mar 30, 2014
Pros: Location (you can watch a lacrosse game from outside of your window). The staff was accommodating, parking was good
Cons: The windows. I couldn't work them.
Location: It's basically on the UVA lacrosse fields (expect lots of lax bro's staying there), across the street is the UVA campus.
For the price, it was a great decision. It's not a four or three star hotel, and there's a lot of younger kids who stay there (due to the price and location) however, the towels were clean and the bed was comfortable, the TV's were good. At 60 dollars a night (others were over 100$), I was impressed. Can't get a better location. Right on the lacrosse field and across from the law campus.

Budget Inn

For the price, the room was fine. I thought it was located in a good area and walking distance to everything I needed to see.

Across the street from UVa

Excellent facility, particularly for the price. The room was clean and pleasant. The bed was comfy. The coffee was good. The staff was friendly and helpful. I'll definitely stay there on future trips to Charlottesville.

Amazing location old facility

Posted Dec 2, 2013
Great location! Walk to Scott Stadium in less than 20min. The Villa across the street has great pizza! The hotel is old but functional not top class amenities. The heat is dry and the bathroom had no heat but turning on the hot water for a bit solved that. Breakfast was ok but nothing to write home about. All in all worth it for location.

Not terrible for the price

Posted Oct 15, 2013
Pros: Location, price, and staff.
Cons: The temperature gauge on the shower, and the toilet!
Location: The pedestrian mall is really cute. We didn't have to travel too far to hit multiple wineries, and Monticello was only about a 20-25 minute drive.
The woman working the front desk was extremely pleasant. The room was quite large too. Great location for UVA area and the pedestrian mall. The downsides: the shower had one temperature: scalding. The bed was pretty uncomfortable, but we managed okay as we were only there one night. The last thing that I did not like was the toilet- it was perfectly clean, but had no lid. I was paranoid the whole stay about something falling in. Also, it had a "foot flush" like you typically see in a public restroom. It just seemed strange to me. Over all, not a bad place, especially for the price.

Acceptable motel in a convenient location to UVa

Posted Oct 14, 2013
Pros: Comfortable beds, clean room
Cons: smell
Room is clean and beds are comfortable. Quieter than I expected as it sits right next to a railroad. The downside is that the room had a slight mold smell. Staff was pleasant. It is not a 5-star hotel but OK.

A Basic, Far from Luxury Hotel

Posted Oct 8, 2013
Pros: good location, near grounds at UVA in Charlottesville. Reasonable rates. Welcoming and helpful staff.
Cons: carpet had big stains, blankets had cigarette burn holes even though the room was non-smoking, quilts on beds should have been replaced long ago.
Location: very close to grounds at UVA in Charlottesville and John Paul Jones Arena, a short walk to UVA football stadium, close to the "Corner" at UVA
This is a nice, basic old hotel. It could use some fixing up, but it was mostly clean, quiet and comfortable. The employees were kind, pleasant and helpful.
