nice close to hospital and uva problem was hard to regulate air condition but that is not uncommon with those type of air condition

Great location, but old hotel

Pros: Location, friendly staff.
Cons: Get new beds and bed coverings.
Location: University of Virginia.
This was a great location for a first time visitor. The hotel is old and the bed was very uncomfortable.

great stay at a classic college town hotel

Pros: great breakfast helpful staff classic lobby and room nice outdoor pool great location - heart of campus!
Location: Monticello - Thomas Jefferson's home & Ash-Lawn -James Monroe's home - about 5 miles. In the heart of the U of Virginia campus! Beautiful area!
Vacationing to d.c. w/ family and stopped for a visit to Monticello - Thomas Jefferson's home -Easy to find from interstate, as signs pointed the way! Great location on campus of u of Virginia! Walked to a pizza place & enjoyed the campus in summer. Yummy breakfast & good price.

Just an overnight

Pros: location, comfortable stay
Cons: working ice machine or have ice available....
Okay stay - busy place with UVA students and a wedding party. Check in was fine - nice evening clerk (Ahmad). Staff was courteous and helpful. Great location. One difficulty was finding an ice machine that had ice or was working (Sat. evening was very busy)...

Perfect for a college visit

We were visiting the University of Virginia for an info session and tour. We could not have been any closer. The location was perfect. Our room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was fine, as well.

Very rude receptionist.

On arrival at the hotel, there was some confusion over whether we had pre-paid or not. Whilst we found the paperwork, the receptionist made a phone call. She then kept us waiting for several minutes whilst she completed her phone call. We had been on the road for 11 hours by this time with 4 children who were hot, tired and hungry. When she finally finished her call she gave the paperwork a cursory glance and said she would have to charge it. It was unclear if she meant charge us or Expedia. She then went silent and we had to ask what she needed. She took our ID and credit card and again kept us waiting for several minutes with no explanation of what she was doing. She finally handed us the room keys. She did not tell us where our rooms were or where we could get breakfast the next day and at what time. We have travelled to many countries and stayed in many hotels and this receptionist is by far the rudest person we have ever encountered in a hotel.

Sad room

Pros: The lobby.
Cons: Everything above the lobby level.
Location: Conveniently located near the university.
The lobby and breakfast area are well appointed; the rooms not so much. The same with the staff. Everyone at the front desk was friendly and helpful. The housecleaning staff, OTOH, was surly and simple tasks such as vacuuming were not routinely performed. The air conditioning was noisy and the thermostat control had only two functioning modes--on and off. The temperature setting was a placebo.

Nice Hotel close to UVA

Pros: Staff, Appearance, Location, and Breakfast
Was not quite sure how this Hotel would be, and booked one night as part of 4 location trip. Pleased on Arrival. Staff very nice, and appearance of Hotel very good. Excellent location for UVA and Downtown Charlottesville, as well as close drive to many eating and shopping places. Only minus was the size of the room, which was tight for a family of four. Did include free Wifi, and Continental breakfast, which was good. Did not use outdoor pool due to time, but it looked nice.

Very convenient location, good breakfast

Cons: Improve the bathrooms and the exterior
Location: Walking distance to all things UVA
This is the most convenient hotel with regards to any visit to UVA. The location is amazing, and the price is very affordable. The rooms are decent but nothing great. The bathroom and vanity shows some wear and tear due to their age (I don't think they've been upgraded since I was a student 20 years ago), but the rest of the room is slowly getting upgraded. There is a nice, small pool. The breakfast includes some hot foods and is served all morning long. Don't count on being pampered, but the location and price make up for it. I've stayed here multiple times with visits to the University both as a student and as an alumni.
