Great hotel

Posted Mar 1, 2015
This is my second stay at Fairfeid Inn & Suites by Marriott, and it was great. The first time was great, clean rooms, great service, the whole nine yards. However, their was a pipe that burst causing some flooding in 1 of the rooms (the water did NOT spread to any other room but this one - occupied rooms near this room where relocated), thus causing the fire alarm togo off at 1:30am, signaling to evacuate the building. The pipe bursting was caused from the weather - it was the extreme change in temperature - having freezing winds, snow, & rain/sleet for 2 weeks straight to the warmest day since then (the day I checked in to the hotel) -think of it like placing a can of soda in a freezer & trying to thaw it & open it, only for it to burst open, releasing the liquid. Despite this, the staff remained calm & attentive to their guests. Those located near the busted pipe (my room) were quickly assisted first - the staff also moved guests who now felt uncomfortable to new rooms. I was truly impressed at how graceful the hotels staff handled the situation. With that said this will not deter me from staying here again. Aside from the unfortunate situation my second stay at this hotel was great!

Nice hotel near movie theater, stores, and food!

Posted Feb 19, 2015
This was my first time staying at the Fairfield Inn & Suites, it had appealed to me on Expedia and the information & pictures given on the hotel. I'm generally hesitant about booking hotels online, because it can literally be like the commercials of someone booking a hotel online and only for you to arrive at the hotel that's well, not the hotel you were paying for. So naturally I did not expect the hotel to be flawless. I didn't set any standards before I arrived at the hotel. However, it was very nice & clean, it even had a warm inviting atmosphere! Getting my room took a bit longer than desired due to multiple people trying to check in to the hotel & out of the snow storm that was taking place outside. But the staff were very polite & helpful, I had no trouble checking in with them (in terms of paying for the room online) they had all the information quickly made my room key & apologized for the wait & informed me the hotel offers free continental breakfast, free wifi & free beverages in the lobby 24/7. The room was exceptionally clean & confortable - Had all necessary amenities - bathroom essentials, ironing board, nice space for clothes, coffee maker, huge flat screened TV, and a very comfortable king sized bed with lots of pillows! The price I got with Expedia vs. the normal booking price + the hotel service & stay there = money well spent. Overall the hotel was exactly what I needed and expected out of a hotel! I will definitely book here again!

Nice hotel in convenient area of Charlottesville

Posted Feb 16, 2015
The hotel is located off a major highway in Charlottesville, and is a short drive to downtown. There are restaurant chains, shopping, and grocery stores (both Trader Joes and Whole Foods) within 5 mins of the hotel. We were in town to visit Wintergreen Resort, which is about an hour away. The hotel staff was nice and easily accessible when we had issues with our heating unit - it kept making popping noises whenever it wasn't running. Maintenance responsed quickly, but was unable to repair it as it continued on into the next night. It was distracting (I'm a light sleeper) but keeping the TV on helped. I'd recommend this hotel to any friends looking to visit Charlottesville.

Good Economical Choice, Not Far from Downtown

Posted Dec 30, 2014
Pros: Excellent staff, especially the young man staffing the breakfast room Sat., Dec 20 -- very welcoming, helpful and deserving of special recognition.
Cons: No suggestions.
Location: Reasonable close to downtown.
Pleasant stay, quiet room, no road noise. Friendly staff, would recommend to others and stay again.
