I am from Texas and was there for surgery. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. We found everyone was friendly from Taxi drivers to you staff. The only thing I would change is have your shuttle run longer than 3pm. Spent a lot of money on the taxi drivers. We would like to come back to see Virginia it seem to be a beautiful place.

I enjoyed my first stay at the South Street Inn. The inn is very conveniently located to the pedestrian mall - I was there to see a show at the Jefferson Theater, and it was a great evening with just a two block walk and no worries about driving after drinking at dinner and the concert. I loved the room I stayed in - it was furnished with charming antiques, and the bed was very comfortable. I like a firmer mattress, and I had a good night's sleep. This is the first time I've stayed at a B&B or inn type of accommodation - I like to come and go as I please and not socialize much with staff or other guests, so I usually prefer the anonymity of a hotel or motel, but I chose this inn for the combination of location and price, and it worked out well. The staff was friendly when I checked in and out and at breakfast, but I didn't feel pressured to chat with people. However, there is a wine and cheese happy hour, I you like this kind of thing. The breakfast was nice, with fresh fruit, home-made baked treats, yogurt, cereal and good coffee. I would definitely like to stay here again.
