Exceptional Virginia charm and hospitality

Posted Oct 28, 2012
Pros: The staff was very cordial and helpful.
Cons: The cleaning solution used in the room was very strong and took an hour with the window open to abate.
Location: Excellent
Excellent overall, stayed for UVa's family weekend. The staff was very helpful, very friendly and it was a wonderful experience.

Great value and a special place

Posted Oct 19, 2012
Pros: Excellent value and great service.
Cons: The treadmill.
Location: Wonderful place in a wonderful city in a fascinating area.
The staff was adorable and the service levels (including a nice breakfast, impeccable wired and wireless connections) were really good. The place (Darden School at UVa) is of course unique and charming. The gym needs an upgrade and the decor, while very clean and well maintained, is a bit dated.

Fine hotel for singles or couples

Posted Sep 3, 2012
Pros: The location, comfort and price were real draws.
Cons: Perhaps a little too quiet
This hotel is on the grounds of north UVA. It is quiet, attractive and comfortable and reasonably priced. The complimentary continental breakfast is coffee, juice, bagels, fruit, packaged pastries and it is certainly quite ok.

Great Inn for Room & Service

Posted Aug 7, 2012
Pros: Room, Bedding, Service
Location: On the campus of U VA Business School, next to Law School, a few blocks from main campus, and a few more blocks from historic downtown.
Gatehouse staffers were very helpful. Room was immaculate, bed was super comfortable, decor was attractively Williamsburg. Continental breakfast consisted of fruit, packaged but tasty pastries, oatmeal, granola bars, banana bread, juices, coffee, tea, etc., and we were told that bagels, etc., would be added soon. Does not have the in-house pool, bar, exercise room, etc., that other, more pricey lodgings offer, but for a great room, service, and ambiance, I recommend this Inn most highly.

Pleasing but pricey.

There was plenty of closet space and the matress was extremely comfortable if you like soft but supportative. The HVAC worked great and the air purifying system made the air quality great too. The room and bathroom were very clean. Shuttle buses running to the main campus took me to where I needed to be. The continental breakfast was okay but too many sweets with not enough healthy options. The bathroom was a bit of a tight fit and there was only one lounge chair. The grounds were very quiet and private. For the price I expect a bit more.

Great!

Great experience. Wonderful, friendly, helpful staff and very nice room. We were even provided complimmentary bottles of water and snacks. They had a workout room and continental breakfast! All for a very reasonable price. A little tricky to find but we found it.

Would definitely recommend

Pros: Clean and comfortable.
Cons: Small tv.
Location: Great if visiting UVA.
Great location although hard to locate. Not much in the way of signs. Once inside my husband and I were quite pleasure with the clean, comfortable room. Staff was helpful and friendly. Great parking although a bit of a walk from the rooms.
