Marriott brand is not keeping up with the others!

Pros: Good location behind the very nice Barracks Shopping Center. Convenient for sightseeing in the area. Hotel is just a few miles from the UVA Rotunda.
Cons: This hotel needs more comfortable beds.

It's unfortunate that the Residence Inn is not keeping up with the quality of the other extended stay hotels. This hotel is the typical Residence Inn layout with extremely small rooms and uncomfortable beds. We stayed here only because the Hampton Inn was booked.

Karen, Thank you for your feedback, we take all our guests comments seriously and will look further into your concerns. I am glad that our location worked well for recent stay. Although our property is 18 years old, we did just recently complete a full renovation in 2013 with new mattress, I am sorry that your bed did not meet your needs. I do hope that you give us another opportunity to wow you on your next trip to Charlottesville, VA.

Convenient to Monticello and Charlottesville.

Cons: Make printed tourist information easily available. Not everyone has app capabilities on their phones. Suitcase rack would be nice.
Location: Jefferson's Monticello
Pet friendly. Clean. Staff responsive to plumbing issue.

Pool closed and no follow-up to promises

Posted Jun 5, 2014
We booked this hotel mainly for its pool. That is important for a family with four kids. The pool was closed for maintenance. We only heard about this at the desk checking in. The manager offered Marriot reards points to (in a way) compensate for the tears of two of our youngest kids. Two weeks later. No rewards points. We will never return.

I am so sorry that our pool was closed during your recent visit to Charlottesville, We did experiance some unforseen issues while in the opening process from the winter season. We have since repaired all the issues and the pool is up and running. We do hope that you will give us another chance to make your stay memorable. I will be sure to follow up with the manager on duty to ensure you received your points that were promised.

I do apologize that our pool was not open during your visit. We did have an unexpected issue without pump and filter which has now been repaired. I do hope that you give the Charlottesville Residence Inn another chance to make things right and show you what excellent service we can provide. Please contact the hotel directly and I can assist you with the points that were promised.

The stay was great. Unfortunately, the hotel did not have any record of our hotels.com reservation. Fortunately for us, they had a room available.

Always a great stay

The rooms are nice, what you'd expect from a Marriott hotel. Staff is friendly. However, when I booked, hotels.com said my room had a king bed but the hotel only has queen size so that was very misleading.

fairly good location

Hotel rooms were old and I was charged for my dog, which hotels.com didn't tell me. It cost me another $100. Also, hotels.com told me I would get a king size bed and I only get a queen. Hotel only had queen size beds. I was visiting so my daughter so we had to share a queen size bed, which was a bit tight.

Clean, comfortable, convient

Very satisfied with the room and service. I really appreciated having a kitchen for stays longer than a couple nights. A couple of minor issues - the small stove top is not powerful enough to boil water in a large pot provided by the hotel, the noisy A/C unit can be annoying when temperature gets hot.
