Nice hotel on the UVA campus

Posted Apr 18, 2014
Pros: The rooms were clean and nice
Cons: The shuttle system
Location: Convenience of being on the UVA campus
I really enjoyed staying in the hotel on the campus. The only negative side was the fact that being 15 minutes away from the airport didn't benefit the shuttle system. I had to wait for 50 minutes for the hotel's shuttle. Eventually, I decided to take a taxi. The shuttle system is unreliable, but other than that I would definitely recommend the place.

Hello thank you for taking the time to write a review, I do apologize for our shuttle service but going around campus and to the airport some times traffic in the small 2 lane road town can be busy for such a small area. It helps when people let us know the good and not so good so we can pay attention and get everything 100% right.

You get what you pay for

Posted Apr 18, 2014
Cons: Update heating and air conditioning
Location: You could walk to everything. It was a great location.
The staff we checked in with was friendly and helpful. The staff we checked out were not as helpful. The room was dated and you couldn't control the air. It got a little hot and we couldn't cool down the room. The room was clean. The biggest perk was the location and price.

No air conditioner and no windows

Posted Apr 14, 2014
The air conditioner was turned off. The front desk guy told us it was a matter of turning the switch on but never did. The room does not look like the pictures at all .Terrible experience, ended up moving to another (much better) hotel

Hello thank you for taking the time to write about your stay, each room has a thermostat to control the room temperature and all of our rooms have floor to ceiling windows in them, maybe you have mistaken us with another hotel you recently stayed at.

Visit U of V

Posted Apr 1, 2014
Pros: room was clean, lobby was nice, staff was nice, breakfast was GREAT! We stayed in two other VA hotels that week and the breakfasts were awful.
Cons: heating systems in each room
Location: walking distance to U of V.
Hotel was OK-it is an older hotel that is several stories high. The front of the hotel had rooms that open to balconies that went directly to the outside but it had been closed in so you were not directly outside when you opened your room door. The first room we were in did not have a heating system that worked. I pushed everything on the thing I could find and it would not turn on. We were there in the middle of a snow storm, so we knew we would freeze if this was not rectified. The staff moved us to the other side of the hotel (where the rooms did open directly to the outside balcony). The heater did work, but it was like a 747 engine every time it turned on so it woke us up repeatedly all night long (this is not such a rare occurence in a hotel so we lived with it). The room was clean and the lobby had some historic beauty I thought. We were able to walk right to the Hall at U of V where the information session was, so that was convenient ( of course you could drive as well). PS-there was a Budget Hotel across the street from us which was also located well for a U of V visit . Do not know anything else about it though.

Great location. Neat hotel. Responsive staff.

Posted Mar 25, 2014
Of course the location is excellent for a visit to UVA (5-7 minute walk to Rotunda). Staff was friendly ,helpful and responsive. Had two minor room issues(safe and coffee maker) and they were each rectified within 10 minutes (probably closer to five minutes).

Great location

Posted Mar 17, 2014
Pros: Location and Price
Cons: Refresh on bathrooms and elevators
Location: UVA sports venues (Basketball, Baseball, Soccer, Track, etc.)
Good location ... close to UVA and many of the sports venues (Basketball, Baseball, Soccer, Track, etc.). Certain aspects of the hotel could use a refresh (elevators and bathrooms) but it was an overall nice hotel. Staff was very helpful and it is a nice breakfast in the morning.

Great hotel, friendly staff

Posted Mar 17, 2014
Location: Shenandoah National Park, Monticello, Jefferson Vineyards, Castle Hill Cidery, great food, beautiful area.
We stayed at this hotel for two nights on a 10-day road trip. The staff was very friendly and willing to accommodate. The room was very nice and clean. The breakfast was the best of the trip, with lots of options. The one downside is that the hallways were open, so when we were there it was a little chilly to be in the hallways. Definitely worth the price though. It's within easy driving distance to Monticello, and right across the street from the University, which is absolutely beautiful. Charlottesville itself was fun to walk around in, and there are a lot of vineyards, breweries, etc. in the area within easy driving distance.

Location was good.

Posted Mar 17, 2014
Pros: The location to the college and downtown was just what we wanted!
Cons: Charlottesville has a free bus. The front desk did not know the pick up schedule or who to call to find out. A larger hotel sign. The current one is
Location: University Ave is fun, the downtown area is great. The shops and restaurants offer a good variety. We visited two vineyards nearby.
The staff was great! The room was ok. What was interesting, none of the lamps worked..or so we thought untill we plugged them in. I called the front desk at 7am to let them know the coffee maker was not working, only to find out it was also not plugged in. (The plug was behind the heavy dresser). The good side, it was only like 3 minutes after I called, that a staff member was knocking at the door!
