Nice place to stay. Clean and for once we found
mattresses that are comfortable. We have stayed in many
places but the comfort of their beds has been poorly rated.
To bring clients back to a hotel it is important to have good comfortable beds.
A good night.s sleep is what counts and that is what we got

I really enjoyed my stay at Rodd Charlottetown. From the moment you pull up it exudes a classy, nostalgic vibe. A plaque on the outside of the building explains that it was built in the 30s as a railroad hotel and it lives up to that plaque throughout the building. The lobby is grandiose, but still a little understated - you never feel like you're at a five star.
My room was full of those old touches - glass doorknobs, period (at least in style and appearance) furniture and fixtures, a real key to your room (not a swipe card), etc. It did come with a few of the trappings of age - the room was not very large, and it did appear as though the walls were a little thin. Someone checked into the room next to me and took a phone call and it sounded like they were in my room. I was concerned, but I never heard them again. Also, the WiFi was a little spotty and slow, but I was at the end of a hall, so maybe I was getting to its limits.
This hotel likely isn't for everyone. I fell in love with the historic touches, but in another person's eyes it could look old, out of touch and small. For me, I really enjoyed my stay and will return.

We initially booked through Expedia and got a room on the second floor. On arriving I told the desk lady that we are handicapped, and they immediately gave us an upgrade to the first floor. When people in the next parking spot parked part-way into ours, thus worrying me about the possibility of some damage to our rented car, we told the desk, and the clerk got them to move over immediately.

"Close to down town and all the great restaurants. "
When I drove up to the bed and breakfast I immediately compared the building to the one next door and it did fall short (simply because it was not freshly painted). When into the entrance of the building I quickly realized how incredibly beautiful this place is. They had updated the entrance to be very modern and inviting with a gorgeous stacked stone fireplace and two cozy arm chairs in the lobby for those who might want to just sit and take it in. The rest of the home was kept very period. They paid great detail to maintaining the original architectural details within the main dining areas and sunroom etc.
The Rose room, where I stayed was very well appointed. Not one detail was left undone. Very clean. The bed was comfortable.
The breakfasts were amazing, although I stuck to the gourmet oatmeal (amazing). Like having dessert for breakfast. One could choose from 4 different items prepared fresh by their chef. They also had very friendly staff serving coffee, juices and fresh fruit every morning. It was amazing sitting in that dining environment, so peaceful, serene and delicious!
I cannot say enough how much I enjoyed this place. I would definitely stay again.

Known as The Birthplace of Confederation, this capital city's streets offer historical treasures such as St. Dunstan's Basilica, All Souls' Chapel, and Province House National Historic Site of Canada. It's not uncommon to see strong draft horses pulling a carriage of sightseers through the streets or witness costumed reenactments of the Ladies and Fathers of Confederation during the summer.
