Historic hotel, nice ambiance

Posted Jul 21, 2014
Pros: Close to everything we needed to be close to
Cons: The sheets did not fit the mattress well. They kept coming off. There was no mattress cover. The deep sided bed was too thick for the sheets
Location: walking distance to most all downtown attractions including aquarium, imax, etc.
We needed a dog friendly hotel. This one was. Not a great place to take dogs because of lack of grass and proximity downtown, but we needed to be downtown, so this was what we chose. That's not the hotels fault at all. Third floor is the dog friendly floor. The woodwork in the lobby etc is impressive. Coffee in the room coffee maker was good

One night stay

Posted Jul 21, 2014
Pros: The historic location.
Cons: The a/c blew directly on the bed from high on the wall, not possible to adjust.
Location: The riverfront, and the Market st. restaurants are all within walking distance.
The reservation and check -in system was very quick and convenient . The staff was friendly and helpful. The Sheraton old , historic, and well cared for. It is well located in the best of the downtown Chattanooga area..

Disappointed

Posted Jul 17, 2014
Pros: The hotel looked very nice when you walked in.
Cons: Cleanliness of the room.
Location: Ruby Falls, Rock City
I booked this hotel through expedia 10 min prior to checking in. The hotel staff seemed irritated because they didn't have the room we booked. The room was not very clean. The pull out mattress was stained and there were no sheets on the bed. The wall was dirty (it looked like coffee spilled and no one cleaned it). I was unimpressed with the room.

Downtown Chattanooga Read Sheraton Hotel

Posted Jul 17, 2014
Pros: The lobby was beautiful. The pool was close.
Cons: The room was worn and ragged. The air conditioning was almost non existent. Could have been cleaner, but no bugs.
Location: Aquarium was four or five blocks away. Lots of places to eat and drink. All within walking distance if you don't mind the heat and humidity.

Pros: Comfort and the steakhouse.
Location: A variety of museums are within walking distance. Also movie theaters, rock climbing walls and aquarium.
The hotel staff made us feel comfortable. The steakhouse was good but expensive. There were a variety of activities and restaurants within walking distance.

Nice historic hotel close to main attractions

Posted Jul 14, 2014
The hotel was very clean, the staff were polite and knowledgeable. It was perfect for me and my girlfriend and she's not easy to please but she was very impressed. In fact she mentioned she wants to come back. We enjoyed the convenience of the FREE shuttle pick-up directly across the street from the hotel. But we also enjoyed a nice casual walk to market street for dinner. The hotel is located just the right distance from the main attractions so that you are not disturbed by noises. My only negative would be, being approached by vagrants asking for money the second we walked out of the hotel for dinner. But most large cities have the same issues.

Very noisy. Slaming doors kept us awake. Kids crying and running up hall.

I expected moreā€¦.

Posted Jul 13, 2014
My husband and I stayed at the Read House the night of our July 4th wedding. We arrived late and phoned ahead to let them know we would be checking in late. When we arrived still dressed in wedding dress and suit, I was pretty disappointed with the friendliness of the staff including the valet and the man who checked us in. We were offered help with our luggage which we gladly accepted seeing as I wasn't much use in a wedding dress but we were just handed a luggage cart and that was it. For a hotel like this and the prices, I would have expected a little bit better treatment and helpfulness. The breakfast was good the next morning but our shower was TINY and when we requested more towels, they never showed up. I've stayed at the Read House before and had MUCH better service. Disappointing to say the least...
