Shangri-la Hotel Chengdu

We had an almost perfect stay. We opted for the upgrade to the Horizon room but once in the room, they didn't have beds for all 3 of us as promised. They showed in a separate bed making the room really crowded. At check-out they charged a 15 percent service in addition to the upgrade price. This was not okay and after a little debate with the manager they removed it. Too bad, everything else was wonderfull. Location, view, staff (really wonderful!) and value for money was amazing.

it couldn't have been better...

The Shangri-La is very well cituated in central Chengdu. My husband and I stayed for one week for tourism. The room was comfortable but in need of "refreshment" - only minor issues such as the bathroom door not closing properly, the bathroom sink flooding and the desk-chair cover being in a state of disrepair. Overall, however, the room was very clean and comfortable. The hotel offered two restaurants, a bar which served food and the lobby, in terms of dining choices - all of which were very good and served by far the best food we ate while we were in Chengdu. I would happily return to the Shangri-La.

This is an outstanding hotel. Staff are knowledgeable and helpful. The breakfast and dinner buffets are amazing: food from all over the world, wonderfully prepared, lots of variety. The hotel is clean and very well run. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Excellent hotel. Everything was perfect. Would stay there for sure. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is brand spanking new. Loved the experience.

The floral arrangements are amazing and the lobby bar at night is a little piece of heaven at the end of the day. The staff is excellent and they even manage to remember your name when you come through the door! (The only other hotel that I've know to do this is the legendary Imperial Hotel in Vienna) Get a room with a view.

- I had very good experience in Shangri La Shang Hai, so was expecting the same. I was a little disappointed. The hotel itself is very nice and comfortable. But the food was not as nice. Only a selective few of the staff gave good service, others I think need to work on more on customer service.It didn't help when the hotel was crowded and some guests just don't quite queue up for their turn to be served. However, relative to the chaos of the city and taxis, it is still a pleasant escape at the end of the day.
