Close to airport, small issuesPosted Jun 8, 2013 on Hotels.com
I am leaving all 5/5 because this is more of a constructive criticism review than anything else, I can't say it was truly a 5/5 stay. This is my second time staying at Park Hyatt. Generally speaking I had a good stay, but their are a few things they seem unable to understand. First you cannot charge such a huge amount for one table of a breakfast buffet, and not include it in the room charge. Competing hotels breakfast complimentary, but not only is this not complimentary it is quite absurdly expensive, this is before the 15% India taxes on-top of it, and then feeling obligated to leave a tip on-top of that. To be quite frank, the only way Hyatt can compete with Grand Chola is to understand this before it is too late. Which has a significantly better buffet, cheaper, and in some room rates is complimentary. My other concern is that the people who designed the light switches in the room must have been completely out of their mind. To find the correct light for a room always take quite a few guesses before you get it right, and they are placed in abstract places in a clearly illogical pattern. All that being said the staff are generally friendly, it is in a good location next to the airport, and the rooms are very well maintained. I know they are trying to make money back through the food charges, but they are making it unbelievably obvious. So in summary, good hotel, good location (in terms of close to the airport), well maintained, but seriously your food prices are absurd.

Best Stay in IndiaPosted Mar 31, 2013
Pros: The Staff and the Flying Elephant restaurant
Location: Fairly close to the airport, maybe 10 minutes away, and just 15-20 minutes to the beach.
Amazing hotel! I've been living in Indianforbthe past 2.5 years and have stayed in many 5?star hotels, but this was definitely the best stay yet! The hotel was beautiful, staff was absolutely amazing and The Flying Elephant restaurant is the best food I've had since landing in Indian2.5 years ago! I was there for a friends wedding but think I will be looking for any reason to head back to the Park Hyatt Chennai very soon :-)

A modern hotel in the heat of the cityPosted Feb 16, 2013
Pros: Location, Modern Rooms
Location: It is next to the Guindy Reserve and within walking distance of IIT Madras
The hotel is in the heart of the city near IIT Madras and the Guindy Natural Reserve. It is a modern hotel that has everything you would expect from a Park Hyatt. All the restaurants haven't yet opened up, but the one that was open was very nice.

Great new 5* hotel close to airport and cityPosted Jan 10, 2013 on Hotels.com
This is a true 5* hotel (by western standards). Modern rooms, tastefully appointed with contemporary furnishings. We stayed there one night after staying 4 nights at the ITC Grand Chola (another 5* hotel). The Hyatt has a modern luxury feel to it, and would be a welcome respite for the business traveler as well families looking for a modern style hotel. Restaurant is good, but nothing to write home about. They are about to open up another restaurant in February that will improved this situation. Fitness facilities are the best I have seen in Chennai. The infinity pool on the roof is small, but offers a great view high above the city - a must see at night. Service is excellent and the welcome staff are great. Lots of attention while you are there. Location is convenient, but on a busy street (no walking around the hotel during the day). This should not be a problem if you have a car or are taking taxis around town.
