Raintree Anna Salai highly recommended
Posted Jan 28, 2013
Pros: Service was outstanding, rooms modern and comfortable
Cons: I would have liked to have stayed longer
Location: Convenient location; not too far from the airport and most main amenities
An excellent hotel for business or pleasure. The service on arrival, check in, restaurant and in every aspect was outstanding. I'd especially like to commend the restaurant staff (from service staff to chefs) for their exceptional service and attention to detail. The food presentation, variety and taste of food was excellent.

Bad start..

Pros: Rooms, Food and overall ambience.
Cons: Rules regarding checkin and stay.
The only reason I am giving a 4 overall, even though our experience was superb was because of their horrible rules regarding who is allowed to stay at the hotel. If you are a local (Chennaite), we were clearly told by the staff that we were not allowed to stay at the hotel. I am not a Chennaite, but I do hold a TamilNadu Driver's license. I was forced to produce my pan card and my wife was forced to show her passport, which I think is totally ridiculous. I had a booking through Expedia and a valid photo id, which was not sufficient for them. I think this is a form of harassment and racism. Expedia should note this and put these stupid rules up on their website as well.

madras stay

Pros: Service Staff and breakfast
Cons: Room
Location: Mount Road aka Anna Salai
The service staff were polite and helpful. I stayed 4 nights. Out of which 2 days I didnt have hot water for the shower in two difft. rooms. The hotel rooms arent properly sound proofed. I can hear the phone conversation from the next room loud and clear. Trying to emulate Marriott courtyard poorly. The brekfast and dinner and the staff was the best part. The traffic outside the hotel was horrible and difficult to get into the hotel due to metro construction. Recommend stay at St.Mary's Raintree

Oasis of elegance and comfort

I loved my week-long stay at the Raintree hotel at Anna Salai. Our guest room was laid out in sensible and comfortable fashion. The decor was pleasing, the furniture arrangement, perfect; most important of all, the bathroom was exquisite. For $36 a day, we got a room upgrade, 24-hour wireless internet, laundry, dry-cleaning and a breakfast + lunch/dinner buffet at the Kitchen. Our room included all other usual amenities. The hotel staff were magnificent: e.g. a minor TV reception issue was fixed within a minute of our contacting them; a tear in my shirt was brought to my attention before its wash, in case I had missed it (which I had), housekeeping always left the room spik and span and waiters at all the restaurants, from the roof-top Up North to the lounge-level Kitchen were cheerful and attentive. I can't say anything bad about this hotel. In a whole week, I never tired of the food in the buffet: there was no end to the variety in the cuisine and range of palate-tingling appetisers, main courses and desserts. The rooms offer an eco-conscious setting on the lights and air-conditioning and the staff do everything they can to help you enjoy your stay. I would go back any time!

Wonderful hotel

The Raintree at Anna Salai (Mount Road) is fantastic. We were in a Club-level guest room and it could not have been more pleasant. The room afforded great convenience and amenities; the space and design were such that my friend could relax in one part of the room while I made a work presentation via Skype. Housekeeping is utterly fanstastic, everything is completely spik and span and minor TV reception issues were sorted out in no time. The roof-top restaurant, Up North was delightful but the breeze can be strong late evening so pin your hair back, haha... The lunch/dinner buffet at the Kitchen offered appetizers, main courses and desserts from South Indian, North Indian, Italian and Asian cuisine - every single day. The staff are very professional and courteous and anticipate your every need. I can truthfully say that stay at the hotel is so lovely that I was loath to leave my room, esp. if traffic was heavy in the city at certain times.
