Hidden JewelPosted Apr 17, 2015
If you have visited the Cherokee area before, then you know that many of the business owners don't take much pride in their properties. Tired, worn out buildings and weed filled landscaping is commonplace. Rivers Edge Motel is certainly the exception. While the building is a bit older, it is very well maintained. As for the rooms, well, they are brand new. They have a modern design that rivals anything offered by the high priced national chains. I slept very comfortably during my five night stay. The front desk staff is friendly and housekeeping did an excellent job, too. Then, of course, there's the river. I especially enjoyed watching the ducks paddle around while I sat and relaxed on the balcony. And there's a lot to be said for being able to park directly in front of my room door.

It was so nice to open the door and listen to the water from the river....we will for sure stay again. Room was clean. Would be nice to have a list of local restaurants that possibly deliver.

Right on the RiverPosted Apr 5, 2015
Pros: It was very clean. Very quiet and relaxing.
Cons: After the staff left at night, we could not get access to the ice machine.
Location: Gold and Gem mining is right across the street, walking distance to restaurants and shopping.
For our 25th wedding anniversary I wanted to visit the Smokey Mountains of Cherokee NC. What a treat it was to find this motel on the river. We didn't realize that it was their off season, but it turned out to be a very relaxing stay, with very nice people in and around the town. We even bought some bread to feed the ducks and geese that would swim right up to our balcony. One evening we even received a real sweet treat, two Elk came down and were standing in the river.

In need of a faceliftPosted Mar 31, 2015
Pros: The bathroom was clean. The staff very pleasant.
Cons: This is an old, old motel. It needs a total renovation, exterior/interior. Our rooms' coffee pot was also feeling its age.
Location: Cherokee Casino.
The room is small and offers just the basics. We went to play at the casino, so we weren't in the room except to sleep. For that purpose it was adequate. The room was way overpriced for what it offers.

Awesome little hotel statistically placed on the river. Close to the casino but still away from the noise.

Clean, Beautiful and On the RiverPosted Feb 3, 2015
This is the place to stay in Cherokee. If you want to enjoy the mountain's in the way you should, try staying where you can hear the river from your room. This is not the casino's "fancy" rooms, but they could not be cleaner and you might enjoy some nature in this beautiful area. The staff were very helpful and made sure we had what we needed.
