Good resort in beautiful NC mountains

Posted Sep 3, 2014
This resort is nice enough, showing its age in a few places, but seems fairly well maintained. Our "historic" room was a little dated, but comfortable overall.

Comfortable quiet secluded nice serene view

Pros: Casual setting
Cons: A little worn. Update electrical
Location: We enjoy antique shopping and a nice place for a casual meal this town has both
Experience was positive no negatives rest was needed and that we did would have liked the spa but short on time

Great location for our visit to the Smokey Mts

Posted Aug 20, 2014
Pros: Clean, comfortable, not fancy, but just fine. Great breakfast each day.
Cons: maybe have a microwave in the room.
Location: Visited Cherokee (the museum, Qualla Craft), Asheville, (great art, music, food), Smokey Mt. Nat. park, toured Penland craft school
I booked this hotel because it had a golf course and was reasonably priced, and not a "chain." The facility was very comfortable, staff friendly and helpful, the room price included a wonderful breakfast in the restaurant. The golf course was very nice, beautiful setting with the mountains in the background. It was conveniently located near Asheville and Cherokee, NC and the little town of Waynesville was just lovely. A nice little "gem," "Old Style summer resort."

Nice place. Comfortable rooms but old

Posted Jul 29, 2014
The hotel from the outside is beautiful. Gorgeous golf course and scenery. Great location. Rooms were large and comfortable however very old and outdated. Rooms should be renovated for the type of hotel and golf resort. Staff were very friendly and the breakfast buffet was great! Overall for the price I would stay there again.

Needs updating. Beautiful view. Excellent staff. Stay Brookside, convenient to have fridge in room. Seemed mildewy.

Mixed emotions

Posted Jul 7, 2014
Pros: The staff and the breakfast are the strong points.
Cons: The entire place needs some love. Paint and new plants would help the ambiance.
Location: Blue Ridge Parkway - - had a picnic and a nap on the side of a mountain. Fireworks over Lake Junaluska were the most beautiful ever!
This is definitely a golf resort. Pool is very small. Room was wonderful once we got an upgrade. The staff is wonderful and so helpful. The breakfast is amazing - - best free breakfast I have ever had. Just don't make a reservation for the "Fairway" building!
