functionalPosted Apr 22, 2015
Pros: reasonable price through third party.
Cons: refurbishment required i think?
Location: nothing to do nearby. not even a food takeaway.
arrived here slightly before official check in time but was allowed to check in. ate in the bar. chicken jalfrezi with rice n poppadom. 12.95 i think. :-( not very nice. not even warm :-( service slow. room okay. bit tired. some of the facilities need upgrading. handrails on staircase all shoogly, the lift door opened and closed like a battering ram. hot shower in morning. early breakfast at 6.30. everything fresh and nice. don't know how it was later? you've to make your own toast and there's flasks of coffee on the tables. didn't use leisure facilities.

On the way downPosted Apr 22, 2015
This used to be a nice hotel. Now, despite the staff doing their best, my room was very tired and in urgent need of renovation. Although the TV was the snallest screen I have seen in a hotel for a long time, there was a smelly tray outside the room door when I arrived late afternoon, the keycard I was given at check-in did not work first time, the biggest problem was the bath/shower. The water temperature was either stone cold or boiling and the control to regulate water temperature was broken - if you turned it, the control just came off the wall- fitting. As I was only staying 4 nights and the rate was low, I did not waste time complaining. One day the shower was just fine ! I used to like this hotel, going back even to when it was the 'Lord Daresbury' - but although the main entrance is reasonably impressive, until the rooms are substantially updated, I will personally avoid in future.

Pros: Comfortably cheap
Cons: Repairs to the hotel, general maintenance, the carpets and curtains are tired and half the car park has been outsourced.
The heating didn't work and due to the road works I needed to be in by 8.00 pm as the directions to the hotel due to road works are very poor and my sat nav just kept trying to take me back the way that was blocked off.

Due to overcrowding we needed to book into hotel for the evening and we therefore chose one that was local. Unfortunately the hotel was tired and in need of good clean and a refurbished. I would not recommend this hotel and neither would we stay again.

Stayed here for work and it was excellent value for money. Staff were more than helpful throughout. Rooms were great. Clean, tidy and with full amenities.
