Poorest Holiday Inn we have stayed in anywhere. Can hear every cough and fart from the adjoining room, lots of loud talking into the night. Only one bath towel in double room. Exposed plumbing in bathroom. Plug mechanism in bath not working then simply fell apart. Seems typical of the UK

We stayed for 1 night, 2 adults and 2 children. From the outside the hotel looks a bit old however inside is very nice and clean. The room was very spacious and the reception staff was lovely. Nice touch for them leaving some sweets for the children in the room! We used the swimming pool/jacuzzi and it was clean and nice. Overall we had a good time and I would definitely chose them again. Free car park outside the hotel and there is an Asda express/petrol station just outside the hotel. Easy access for Chester zoo. Breakfast was great and plenty choice. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Quiet Corner
Delightful place, away from the hassle and buzzle. Has a Starbucks cafe on site managed by hotel staff. All the staff were helpful. The is a bus stop by the hotel if you are xoing from Chester. Similarly on the opposite side, one can get two buses into Chester. The BP petrol station next to hotel also has a Starbucks cafe and small shop outlet.

Great hotel for short term stay, friendly staff, only problem is hotel is built in a very strange way, leading to getting lost trying to leave your room, involves lots of walking to get fo reception plus door lock did not work , otherwise all good, breakfast option available, breakfast voucher at £12 to buy at reception or pay higher price directly

Full of unexpected surprises
We have not stayed in Holiday Inn for quite a while and they have definitely improved their rooms and service. We had a family room on 15 december with a few unexpected surprises including a VIK wristbands for the children which allowed them to select a free fruit shoots and a choice of some sweets. on entering the room we were greeted with a hand written christmas card and a selection box for the kids. Room was modern, clean and had all the normal amenities. we would definitely stay here again when visiting Chester.

Nice hotel with an awful spa area
This hotel has many plus points but the bad are really quite bad but can be sorted very easily. The staff are brilliant! The breakfast is very good too. However, the housekeeping only comes in and replenishes items but not all. No tea added and no bed made. These are minor issues but nether the less are easy issues to fix. Now the health spa! I don’t think I’ve ever sat in a jacuzzi with paint flaking off the pipes above and falling into the water! Or walked around the side with rust on the floor! No paper towels in the changing rooms. It’s just really poor to allow the spa area to get into such a state of repair. It really lets the hotel and the staff who work in it down as they are the real asset of this hotel especially Mark and the staff in the breakfast area!!

There were squeeky floors directly outside of the room which was slightly annoying when anybody walked past the door. Other than that we had a very pleasent stay.

Great stay for a family trip. Staff were really helpful and the hotel is perfect for a family stay. The restaurant food was good and we used the pool multiple times which was great. Our room had everything we needed.

This hotel had a lovely reception area with free water and snacks for all guests. The bedroom was very tired and the carpet needs replacing as it was quite dirty in places. The bathroom was very clean and has been refurbished. One of the two glasses in the bathroom was dirty where the previous occupant had stored their toothbrush. I wouldn’t chose to stay here again.

A good place to stay and quiet for Visiting Cheste
We were booked in 15 minutes after the declared time for accepting guests personally as we are disabled this doesn’t happen very often Very nice and helpful staff looked after us well didn’t partake in anything on off as we were having a anniversary meal in Chester that night and left before breakfast Would definitely stay there again

The hotel was over priced for the night we stayed, television did not work, no toiletries left in the room, the sink did not drain, loose toilet seat and the window mechanism was broken, this was not what we expected for the amount we paid. I tried to call reception in the evening but no one answered, reported it after swimming in the morning and the response was they would tell maintenance, as we were leaving after breakfast there wasn’t a lot concern from the front desk. The only thing that was good was the breakfast. Not sure why English hotels are in need of such a lot of maintenance, it feels like they should have a good check list to follow, am really fed up with staying in poor accommodation and paying over the top for this, the staff do their best but it’s difficult to promote accommodation that needs generally a good level of improvements, very disappointed again

Excellent hotel, but service needs improving
I habe stayed at Holiday inn south prior. It is a lovely hotel with excellent facilitirs omcl a great gym and pool. However, there are certain things that need an improvement. 1. Service. It was disappointing that despite staying for five nights, my room and bathroom were appropraitely cleaned only once. I had to go ask for room to be made up in protest. 2. Breakfast could be improved -Cmon guys, nice space, but the scrambled and eggs appear tpyically rubbery and unfresh. The coffee machine is well past its sell by date. When it stopped working, one syaff member literally opemed it and put her fingers through the filters to get the stored gunk off!

Not my best hotel experience.
Very dated hotel and due too it being a race day in Chester wasn’t cheap, price doesn’t match up too the quality of the hotel, desperate need of a face lift. Biggest issue was the toilet smelt of urine as soon as I got there, even after flushing several times, ended up getting a bottle of bleach from the shop. Old stains on the mattress too. Will not be revisiting.
