Disney holds itself in a high regard and therefore you tend to expect higher standards than the average hotel, especially considering the higher price points.
We have stayed in multiple Disney hotels over the years which have consistently blown us away, but the Cheyenne was nothing other than disappointing. The overall cleanliness of the room was lacking, with the fixtures, fittings and furniture looking extremely dated and in need of a refresh. The bathroom itself was okay, again in need of some TLC but the main issue was the consistent smell of sewage coming from the drains.
Although it was not an issue we faced personally, the two rooms opposite ours had big problems with bed bugs, both parties had small children who were sleeping on the fold out bed and were severely bitten by bed bugs and ended up leaving the resort early due to this.
We stayed in the Geronimo building, which had no lift to the second level so you need to carry all your bags up a flight of stairs. We had no issue with this but it may be worth contacting the hotel in advance if accessibility is an issue for you.
The hotel grounds itself are quite large and feel quite empty with a lot of open dead space. The walk to Disney Village and the parks are perfect, taking no longer than 10 minutes on a leisurely stroll along the river.
In summary, I would suggest maybe spending more to stay at a nicer resort, but the resort would be ideal for young families if the above issues were addressed.
