"Amazing Resort!"
Excellent value for money for this stylish resort. The teak wood Thai house and the traditional look of the room is really a taste of past. Room very comfortable and clean. Quite location, beautiful garden, lovely swimming pool. It's just like a secret shelter near the crowed old city of Chiang Mai. The friendly staff was really beyond our expectation, not in a way of eagerly attentive, but helped us with quite a lot of information and suggestions. Overall I would certainly recommend this resort.

"Authentic Thailand"
Staying here was one of our favorite experiences in Thailand. Truly a family owned lodge. From the beginning we were taken care of. The Father, daughter team acted as our guides and host/hostess. The mother the cook of amazing thai food. We went on treks, walked to the village, and spent time at the meditation center.

"Quirky boutique hotel away from the hustle and bustle"
Proud Phu Fah is a charming boutique hotel with fantastic design elements. We stayed here for two nights - spending one full day in Chiang Mai (downtown) and the other days taking the cooking class and going to the elephant camp. The hotel is away from the action and you really need a car to see anything. If you want to spend some time in uninterrupted peace and tranquility, this is the place for you!

"Definately recommended."
I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights in April 2014. Amenities: I was staying in Building B. I have not been into the rooms of other wings but I can see that the doors of guest rooms at the main building looked older. In building B where I was staying, the room does not look dated, is large, clean and well maintained by the housekeeping staff. There is a safe deposit box, 2 free bottles of drinking water per day (not sure if we can ask for more), a kettle and free tea, coffee and sugar. The bathroom and toilet is a little small but adequate. One annoyance is the presence of mosquitoes but this is a Chiang Mai annoyance as I can find mosquitoes elsewhere during the hot month of April, even at international F&B outlets like Starbucks, the airport and also inside a Thai Airways plane when it landed at Bangkok from Chiang Mai. The housekeeping staff provided an electric mosquito repellent. The breakfast is very good. There is a travel service desk inside the hotel. A suggestion would be to make the exterior of the entrance to hotel (where the tour desk is) more prominent to tourists looking for it for the first time.

"Remote basic retreat next to a waterfall."
We went to Chiang Mai for our honeymoon and enjoyed being out in the rural landscape and next to the amazing waterfall. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There is only one restaurant there with a limited menu, especially for vegetarians. Fresh juices would've been nice instead of the same bottled ones each day. The showers run on solar panels, so hot water was only available at night not in the morning, this was ok with us but did upset other guests. There is not much to do but relax. Trouble was there's not many areas to just relax except your room or spikey grass, some hammocks or chairs on the grass would be good as not many places to sit and enjoy the view. The tours were good, but a bit expensive for what they were. Also, when we arrived a HUGE lunch was cooked for us which we did not ask for (most of it was meat and I am a vegetarian), we were charged (a fair bit) for this meal, even though we didn't really want it and I couldn't eat most of it! This was a bit rude... When we went to pay at the end they added on a 10% service fee and 7% tax so it bumped up the price by $200, they should let you know about this prior to requesting it as it was a bit of a shock. I guess it depends what your after, if you don't mind being very remote and spending a fair bit of cash then it may be perfect for you. Staff are great, but a few improvements need to be made to make it more relaxing/enjoyable and less pricey.
