First Visit to Chiang MaiPosted Feb 17, 2015
The hotel is located in the heart of old Chiang Mai and is perfectly positioned to visit many of the wats, to eat in a wide selection of really good Thai restaurants and sample the nightlife! As the name implies it was an oasis of calm, providing lovely accommodation and a totally serene ambience. All in all, just what we wanted!

Bodhi Serene @ ChiangMaiPosted Jan 12, 2015
excellent hotel. #room 113 very quiet. ground floor. breakfast / restaurant / reading/ computer-room/ rooftop pool areas - all fab. even during a torrential downpour do not feel hemmed-in. (day 4: unusually, we encountered rain. 8hrs straight !) lower south-east corner of old walled city. Most Wats + Sunday Night Mkt - within easy strolling distance (5 to 15mins). tuk tuks + red vans easy to hail. in-house booking office for excursions to surrounding villages, great.

Great hotel - excellent restaurantPosted Dec 22, 2014
Pros: The restaurant!!
Cons: Beds are hard.
Location: Can do the Lonely planet walk of old city from hotel.
Excellent staff. Excellent restaurant (try the chicken in a taro bowl). Easy walking distance of most notable temples. Can take a tuk-tuk to night bazaar. Nice quiet retreat from busier streets.

Great HotelPosted Dec 2, 2014
Pros: Just about everything
Cons: A few dresser drawers.
Location: Location is close to nearly everything. The Sunday Night Walking Street is only a few blocks away. The Night Market is a short ride on a tuk tuk.
The Bodhi Serene is one of the best mid-budget hotels that I have ever stayed in. The location is great with easy access to just about any point within "Old City". At night and early morning it is very quiet and the balconies are set up to provide a great deal of seclusion and privacy. The staff is very friendly, competent and professional. Whenever I asked anyone at the front desk for directions they marked the route on a map and gave me the map. They also speak very good English. The restaurant food is very good with excellent menu selections, both western and Asian. The breakfast buffet is the best that I have ever found. The only drawbacks I found were the firmness of the mattress (typical for Asian mattresses) and the lack of drawer space for long term stays. But the lack of drawer space can be overcome by shifting things around in the wardrobe closet.

Could be improvedPosted Nov 23, 2014
Pros: Hotel exterior decoration, garden, and location.
Cons: Room condition, service mindset of some hotel staff.
Location: The hotel location was good and it was only max. 10 min. walk to the Saturday walking market.
At first everything looks OK. Hotel staff are polite, friendly, and helpful. We booked 2 rooms and asked for them to be on same floor to cope with my elderly mother. For this reason, one of the room was not ready when we checked in at about 14.15 hrs. which we were happy to wait for another hour. The hotel environment (exterior declaration, garden, etc.) look lovely although we think the room condition can be looked after better. There was an attempt to hide the bad smoking smell by overly using the deodouriser which was not very pleasant. One of our rooms was next to the wall which have probably a restaurant/bar on the other side so it was quite noisy at the balcony/corridor. Although you cannot hear it when you are in the room. After we got back from walking market, the electricity of one of the rooms was cut out. Then the air conditioning was not working. They sent the engineer to fix it after waiting for about 15-20 minutes but it could not be fixed. We then had to move to the only one room left (we are told) on the ground floor which was not very convenient as our intention was to stay on the same floor. We didn't received any apologies from the reception staff who we understood has organised this. It was also not mentioned when we checked out which made us think that the true service mindset of some hotel staff could be better. Although the male staff who was sent to help us move the luggage was very helpful and apologetic. The room services and breakfast were average.

Extra...Posted Nov 16, 2014 on Hotels.com
