Luxurious hotel and spa

Posted Oct 18, 2014
Pros: See above
Cons: The hotel restaurant, exorbitantly priced with unexceptional food and lacking in ambience because so few clients choose to eat there.
Location: Chiang Mai is a great location for tourism, with beautiful temples, national parks, elephant and tiger shows, visits to local tribes, jewelry and silk
The hotel itself is beautiful, in an authentic Thai style, many rooms giving direct access to an elegant and extensive central swimming area. The rooms are beautifully decorated with canopies above the beds. The spa offers excellent massage and personal care services. Several disadvantages are to be noted, however: Noise can be a problem as happy families dive into the pool even early in the morning or late at night, the hotel is a long distance from the Old Town, requiring a taxi ride of at least 15 minutes each way for each outing. The neighborhood feels barren and isolated in an industrial office park zone under intense construction, there are very few shops, or restaurants aside from a giant shopping mall of no interest whatsoever, as it resembles the urban sprawl found throughout big cities in the world. The hotel's restaurant is often empty or nearly so as the prices are 5 to 10 times as high as in local spots and the food is unexceptional. Breakfast will run you $15. I ate dinner there once and did not go back.

Pretty good

Posted Mar 14, 2014
Pros: Rooms, pool
We had a couple of nights here, the location is very out of the way for Chiang Mai, the rooms are lovely and the pool would be great (if it wasn't so cold, but that is not the hotels fault!). Breakfast was ok and the onsite tour operation works if you want to pay over the odds for everything. We arranged for a tuk tuk driver or tour operators to come and pick us up.

Construction outside the hotel : We have already discussed with the management of this construction and they have agreed not to carry on heavy duty work and also to avoid working on odd hours. Transportation problem

Posted Mar 13, 2014 on Hotels.com
hotel was nice and spacious, but only one thing which is making me very unsatisfied- Transportation. The location of the hotel was far away from old city, there is no public transportation available around, only can order the hotel Taxi or Shuttle. The taxi charge was too high , 200baht for one way to teh nearest shopping mall but when i back from shopping to hotel by Song Tiao only 20baht. The hotel taxi was over charge , they should provide more reasonable transport. Besides the hotel shuttle was only 2 times per day and always fully booked. So making hotel guests unconvinient to go out from hotel. I hope the hotel can improve this issue.

Dear Suann, My apology for not been able to make your holidays a lot smoother during your recent stay with us. Infact we are not that far away from the city. In Chiangmai to get to anywhere it merely takes around 10 to 15 minutes. We do provide complimentary shuttles at 10 am, 2 pm, 4 pm, 7 pm and the last pick up to return to hotel at 10 pm (not twice per day). However for guests who do not want to have a fixed departure then we will advise them to use our tour desk. One has to perhaps pay a bit more but it is a guaranteed service, clean and trustworthy beside safe. Our guests who do not want to pay for this service, they can easily flag down a tuk tuk that takes them to downtown, only if they do not mind to wait outside the hotel at the main road (just a few steps away from the lobby) and also if the guests do not mind to have many stopovers for the tuk tuk to pick up other guests along the road. Suann, i would like to thank you for bringing this matter up and we will definitely take this as constructive comments and will better our service. Regards.

Simply great!

Pros: Everything!
Our stay here was beautiful! The people, the food, the accommodation, the facilities were so great. We loved staying here and would definitely return again. Not too far from the airport with an easy taxi ride. Couldn't recommend Khum Phaya Resort & Spa highly enough.

Hotel with an excellent ambiance, courteous staff

Posted Mar 3, 2014
Pros: The decor, cleanliness, excellent staff, sprawling swimming pool, beatiful interiors ,landscaping, beatiful spa services on payment, value for money
Cons: wi fi signals are weak. Could include free a la carte room service breakfast .
Location: night bazar on Thursday and Friday - walking distance, Khum Khantok Lanna style sit down dinner and dance at 100 m distance, 7 by 11 shop
Always wanted to stay in a hotel which gives a traditional experience. Had heard about a certain expensive hotel in Chiang Mai, but it sounded 10 times out of budget! So we found everything we wanted in this hotel. Excellent staff, traditional Lanna style decor, sprawling swimming pool, meticulously cleaned surroundings, manicured gardens, comfortable beds, are few of the many good things to be mentioned. Just a walk around in the campus is invigorating. For who those who want more, there is a lovely spa. Most of the Thai attractions to be enjoyed with your family are close by - like the traditional dinner and dance and the night bazar. One can easily visit the zoo, animal shows, night safari -which also has a free mini cabaret etc. Chiang Mai offers you most of the Thai tourist attractions that other cities do, but here, because of less traffic, it's a better experience. I recommend this place and hotel to all. Stay at Cetara Khum Phaya is an experience not to be missed!

Beautiful Hotel

Posted Feb 6, 2014
Pros: Loved it. This is true Thailand.
Cons: Swim-up bar should be open. There were times when at least 12 people were there waiting for it to open.
Location: The major places on a short visit are the temple hotel at the top of the hill, and the weekend night market (not to be missed).
We only stayed at this hotel for 2 nights, but the experience was outstanding. The rooms were beautiful and very tastefully decorated. We had a room which allowed us to walk straight out via our balcony (highly recommended) into a beautiful swimming pool. The whole experience was a dream, and the ladies in the spa were very experienced. The local restaurant was of a very high quality, and the food and service was of a very high standard without being expensive. The tourist rep was very informative, and all services from her were top class. When she arranged something, it met all our expectations, and vehicles were always on time, very experienced, and very accommodating. My only disappointment was that during our time there the swim-up bar was never open.

Centara Khum Phaya is the BEST

Posted Jan 23, 2014
Pros: The clean, lush, beautiful grounds, guest service, spa and rooms all excellent.
Cons: NA
Location: Bars and restaurants in walking distance. Not many, but if you're looking to stay close for a day, you have options.
This is my second time at this resort. While in Chiang Mai I looked at the other hotels I had considered staying in and Centara Khum Phaya is hands down the best choice not only in this price range, but others more than double the price. I had the opportunity to even recommend it to another couple who were not satisfied with the service or conditions of a competing resort they were paying $70 more per night at. The staff are very warm, friendly and polite. Rooms, facilities and restaurant were all maintained and operated very well. When you enter this property, you forget you're 10 minutes from the city by cab. It is an oasis and the whole place is designed with great detail, lots of greenery and atmosphere. There are restaurants and bars in the area, but it's far from what you find in the old city. The hotel has a tour company on site and we were able to book tours for everything we wanted to see quickly and without any trouble. It is a great deal for what they offer, which is top shelf quality and service. STAY HERE!
