Excellent ServicePosted Aug 7, 2014
Upon checking in I was asked whether I would like to upgrade to a Club room which will provide me breakfast for all 3 of us as I was travelling with my wife and son aged 10. It would also entitle us to the club facilities where they served cocktails and food every evening which was as good as a light early dinner. The price charged was also very reasonable. The service was very good at the cafe for breakfast and also at the Horizon Club especially George who took good care of us there. The concierge office were also very helpful in arranging the daily tours as we were only there for 4 days 3 nights and I did not arrange any earlier before the trip. All in all the staff at Shangri La Chiang Mai made made it an unforgettable holiday trip to Chiang Mai

Excellent hotel and one the best in Chiang Mai.Posted Aug 5, 2014
Pros: The staffs
Cons: Nothing major but maybe could introduce free shuttle to main attractions in Chiang Mai. Could add more menu for the breakfast.
Almost perfect at every single items. Smooth check in and check out. Good location (10-15 mins) to night bazaar. Great and friendly staffs.

Perfect service!Posted Jul 21, 2014
Pros: Staff, cleanliness, attention to detail, health club and pool.
Location: The only downfall of this hotel is the location. Whilst it is reasonably close to the old city, it is a 20 minute walk
We stayed in Chiang Mai for a couple of nights whilst on our honeymoon. The hotel went above and beyond to make the experience perfect. There was a nice bottle of wine, chocolates and then later a lovely bath prepared for us to enjoy after a busy day walking around the markets. Staff were very friendly and attentive.

Best hotel we have ever stayed atPosted Jul 14, 2014
Pros: Everything! Staff went above and beyond to make you feel welcome and comfortable. Special mention to the lovely gentleman in the Horizon Lounge.
Location: Night markets, massages, shopping, restaurants, plenty of places to book tours.
Fast and efficient check in, we decided to upgrade to Horizon Club, which was a fantastic decision, well worth it. Rooms clean and spacious, staff attentive and efficient. Breakfast buffet was fantastic, as was the nightly BBQ Buffet. Large, clean pool with life guard, warm towels, water and fruit provided, as well as bar service.

Highly recommend upgrading to their horizon club level when checking in. The lounge was a huge perk and the service was also upgraded with the club level concierge

A nice hotel!Posted Jun 12, 2014
Pros: Clean and tidy and lovely staff
Location: Good location, quite near the night market and some nice restaurants
Had a nice couple of nights here. A perfect place for a nice getaway, near a number of great, fairly central attractions in Chiang Mai.

Like the name suggests, a Shangri laPosted May 18, 2014
Pros: The quality of fixtures & fittings in & out of the hotel is very good. The food is to a good standard also.
Location: The hotel is well located for shops, bars, cafés, food outlets, the night market & bazaar. It is also well located for the airport.
We were greeted by smiling faces the moment we arrived. We'd booked a room on the Horizon floor & were checked in & shown to it within 15 minutes of arrival. All of the staff are very friendly & you are made to feel that they are pleased to have you are there. The spacious room was excellent with everything in it of very high quality, air con was cold, bed very comfortable, quality bedding , good sized quality bathroom with a shower cubicle & a bath & lots of hot water. The food is also of a good standard, with plenty of quality choice for breakfast & for the club lounge in the evening. The hotel itself is well situated for bars, cafés, fast food outlets, the night market & bazaar & 15 minutes max from the airport. We found a pub called The Red Lion which as well as selling good Thai & European food also had English cider which made a refreshing change from the local lager. I would highly recommend the Chiang Mai , or indeed any, Shangri La.

Great accommodations, not wonderful for familiesPosted Apr 9, 2014
The location was as advertised - about a 5-10 minute walk from the night market. You had to pass through some dark alleys to get there, although we never actually saw anything threatening. It was a bit unnerving to walk through these areas, but after some time we got more used to it. The rooms were very nice. No breakfast included which was fine, but the rooms weren't well set up to prepare your own breakfast. We ended up buying cereal at 7-11 and having cereal and milk in a cup every morning. The pool was having some issues while we were there and the water was very green - kind of gross. The staff at the pool was attentive and brought out towels and a tray with a pitcher of ice water right away each time we came to the pool. It was a nice touch considering how hot it is in Thailand! All in all, the hotel was as expected, although I don't think we would stay there again with our kids. It seemed a bit more geared to the business crowd. That being said, we tried to pay attention to other accommodations while we were in Chiang Mai and nothing else really stuck out to us as a place that would have been a better fit.
