“Great location”

The hotel was all that they said, except it was under renovation in the front half. Though this did not worry us at all (no noise or dust), there was no gym and no swimming pool available. I would highly recommend this hotel for security, central location, quality of food, and reception services. The room was always cleaned perfectly every day, with free water supplied. Great bathroom, large and all the knick knacks like shampoo supplied, if you need them. Large shower with plenty of hot water. The usual high prices for cleaning your clothes, but plenty of wash and fold places, right outside very cheap per kilo. Get it ironed too for another couple of dollars. Everything is really close. Small 711 type shop across the road. Massage across the road is clean and on the up and up. Small motorbike hire is cheap per day (24hrs). Petrol cheaper than Australia. We rented bikes and rode out to the hot springs for the day. We booked the full day Elephant trek tour with the hotel tour desk after getting our prices outside. They came in dearer, but I asked if they could match the price, and they agreed. Breaklfast was great with lots of choice. I would stay there again for sure, if the prices were as good as we got. I feel though that once the full renovation is done to the front half, the prices will go up. We were very happy and comfortable there.

“Great location, good value hotel”

The hotel is looking a bit tired - we only had one night there so it was good to be central near to the Night Market. We had deluxe rooms which were enormous, clean but a bit dated and the bathroom was also a bit tired, but the stay was pleasant, the room quiet and the air conditioning worked well.

“Good hotel at Expedia price.”

We were in Chiang Mai to visit family and friends. Near the Holiday of Loy Kratong, hotel space was at a premium so we ended up here, near the Night Bazaar. At first, there was confusion because I had purchased the room online but we eventually got that sorted out. But make sure you keep a copy of your itinerary and the confirmation number. This became handy in all Thai hotels at which we stayed. The hotel is really very nice, the front desk staff pleasant, the room staff were great. Lots of places in the area to eat, many of them relatively inexpensive and serve local Thai dishes. That's good because the hotel food is really overpriced. Located on Loy Kroh street, there is a variety of night life both Thai and Western. The hotel has a really nice sized pool that was rarely used. We would stay at this hotel again. This is a perfect hotel for those interested in buying things Thai. For expats wishing to get away from the tourist throngs, I recommend somewhere else, perhaps near Thapae Gate.

“A Thai Surprise”

Situated on the very edge of the busy Night Market it is surprisingly quiet and a relaxed atmosphere allows the resident the freedom to sleep well and wake refreshed for another day's exploring. The rooms are a good size, well equipped (some modernising of facilities may be in order but they are perfectly adequate for most people), comfortable and clean. The staff are friendly and helpful. Le Bistrot (good food and wonderful staff) is worthy of more than one visit whilst Fueng Fah restaurant offers a different experience. All in all, a good hotel, a good base to explore northern Thailand. I will certainly stay again.

“Good location”

A comfortable hotel in the middle of Chiang Mai's night market and night bazaar shopping district. The afternoon and evening buffets are good values.

“Hotel excellent for this class , but phone service is bad”

This is a good hotel for it's class. Well located ,with ok food and services. Also very clean. But if you need to use the phone service to transact business this is not the place to saty . As, phone service is difficult to use if not impossible at times and staf are of little help inn dealing with the issue.

“Great Location with potential”

The hotel is in a great location literally on the Night Bazaar Street with a Starbucks in the building and McDonalds, Burger King and an array of Thai Restaurants on its' doorstep. The decor in the foyer and external appearance is extremely dated without have had a makeover since construction circa 1960's. We were given a room in the new wing (approx 10yrs old) due to renovation of the hotel prior to a rebranding late 2011. The pool is currently closed although a scheduled shuttle is available to use another hotel pool approx 10 mins away but we found this a bit of a hassle. The room was extremely large, bathroom clean and overall comfortable. Minor issues such as superficial stains on the carpet and marks on the walls were easily overlooked. I would consider staying in this hotel again once the renovations are complete and it is rebranded.

“Bad service”

The hotel is located right near the night market. This provides very easy walking access at the price of inhaling significant pollution as soon as you step out of the hotel. The place was clean and reasonably nice. The service was bad. A few examples: 1. I tried using a calling card from the room. After several failures, I called to ask about it, and when I explained the problem they responded: "then you hang up" and they hung up on me. I want to believe this was a language problem, but it seems pretty bad. 2. They say in small letters on some card in the room that you have to pay to make toll free calls using a calling card. The charge is outrageous by any country's standards: I think it was about $5 per call! (Before counting the calling card charges.) 3. Their stated approach is: we will charge you as much as possible for anything we can. Usually this is somewhat of a problem in fancy hotels, but this hotel is very moderate and the overcharging is pretty significant. 4. Some of the hotel staff was very nice, but many had a very negative attitude. This is the place to say that I try to always be nice and positive, because I know this will be to everyone's benefit. The bad service was despite my positive attitude. Book this hotel only if it is your only option in town. A general recommendation: don't stay inside the main area of the city - it is as polluted and busy as Bangkok! Stay near the river or outside the city, and access it only on a limited basis.
