Very convenient location - rooms are small.
Posted Jan 17, 2013
Pros: Location
Cons: Staff could be a bit more informed and progressive.
Location: Shopping mainly.
As noted rooms are small and walls are thin so a bit noisy especially in the morning. Room had no closet or chest of drawers which made for a messy look much of the time. I would stay for the location but not a lot else. We were disappointed when we received the "fish eye" from the front desk clerk when he questioned how two men only needed one bed. It is 2013 and you are in a major city and trying to be a "hip" hotel - that behavior will not make you 'hip' - only offensive.

Great location and staff.

The Acme Hotel was in a great location. The staff were all helpful and pleasant. The room was much larger than we would have expected given the great location. The only downside of the room was the very loud air conditioner. It kicked in constantly despite the temperature not being very high. We had to turn it off completely at times just to get some quiet. Interesting that despite being in a central location, the street noise was very minimal, but the noise from our air conditioner took that away. Otherwise it was a great place to stay.

Terrific and affordable stay in the centre of town

Pros: Comfy bed, amusing wall designs in the room, central location
Cons: My hotel room only had a view into the central well, so don't go expecting a fantastic view.
Location: The area feels safe, and is close to North Michigan Avenue with its nice shops and places to eat.
I really enjoyed my stay at the ACME Hotel Company Chicago. The room was very clean and the decor was nice (I loved the designs on the walls and the 'lips' on the wall in the bathroom!), and the bed was extremely comfortable. The staff on the front desk were freindly and helpful, and the free use of the computer was appreciated (I didn't have my laptop with me). The hotel is centrally located just a couple of minutes' walk from Michigan Avenue, and the area feels safe, with lots of life around. To top it all, the hotel is very reasonably priced. I was staying on my own, but it's a hotel worth considering for couples and families too. Recommended!

Newly remodeled "hip" boutique hotel

Look for the star sticking out over the front door...enter the sliding glass doors into artsy lobby/registration area. Take quick elevator ride to your room and enter to view large canvas wall hanging, colorful lights and chairs and a small but beautiful bathroom... Enjoy!

Funky Hotel

Pros: Something different. Loved the coffee delivery and wakeup knock at a time of our choosing each morning
Cons: Fairly small rooms
Location: Easy access to trains and the Magic Mile
Plenty of character with cool decor. Suit students or younger couples. Loved the album display in the lifts. The room was a little small with no cupboard space to get bags etc off the floor and out of the way

Noisy
Posted Jan 29, 2013
Pros: Location, Bed
Cons: Noise
Location: Perfect
Everything about this hotel was perfect except for two things: 1. You can hear doors slamming all day/all night long. We were placed beside the elevator and doors to the stairway and to other customers rooms went "BANG" all the time. They need to install some door stops to stop the noise. If they do, the hotel would get my rating of 5/5. Until they do, it's a REALLY BIG PAIN. We were woken up often by the sound of banging doors. 2. they do not provide bottle openers in the room

Pros: Friendly staff, cleanliness, proximity to train!
Cons: I can't think of a bad thing to say.
The staff was really helpful from the moment we checked in. We booked a king bedroom but were switched over after a day to a double queen because of faulty AC. The staff was once again really accommodating and friendly. The king bedroom was really small and had no fridge. We didn't really mind because we were out all day anyway and just used the room to sleep. I would suggest getting the double queen for a little wiggle room. It has a little seating area, small closet, and little desk. Really clean and just a block away from the red line train! Would definitely stay here again!
