Not great but not badPosted Sep 3, 2013
Pros: Breakfast, very comfortable beds, very clean
Cons: Exercise facility needs to be completely updated and renovated. Stair steppers were modern looking but could not get them to work.
Location: Good restaurants nearby, nice quiet location for a writer's retreat
This hotel is showing its age a bit. The decor leaves something to be desired, but it is still clean and the workers are very nice. The continental breakfast was well-stocked and good. The beds were some of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept on at a hotel. The television worked well, the in-room fridge was roomy enough for enough food for our two-night stay for two people, and the microwave was clean and functional as well. Generally, everything in the room worked well and was clean. However, the toilet in our particular room was kind of scary. It made a loud groaning and ker-chunk sound every time we flushed that was kind of disturbing. That said, it still flushed. It just made it difficult to go to the bathroom at night if you are trying not to disturb your roommate. Also, the exercise facilities at this hotel were horrible. The room they are kept in is like a greenhouse. There is no air conditioning in it. The weight machine looked like it might work, but I was more interested in doing some cardio. There are two treadmills that I think come from the 1970's that I just didn't feel safe using, and I don't think the resistance on them actually works anymore - they used a hand-crank system to set the resistance. No, seriously. There was one modern treadmill that worked but I couldn't stay on it long because of how hot the room was. there were also two stair steppers but two people with college degrees couldn't get them to work, so I think they are broken.

It was centrally located from where our event was. The room was well kept, and comfortable. The air worked very well, turned it on when we arrived and in no time the room was very comfortable. the only thing was, I thought that it needed to have a few more large bath towels. Other than that it was very good.

not as dog-friendly as you'd thinkPosted Aug 21, 2013 on Hotels.com
I specified that I needed a first floor room because I have an elderly dog that has trouble getting up stairs. When I got to the hotel the check-in attendant said "you are on the second floor." didn't even bother to apologize or look to see if there was anything that could be done to pay extra to swap out for a different room. I checked in at about 6:30PM and the hotel was in no way full of cars at that point. So I would put that at 2 star service usually, but the check-in clerk in the morning was very nice and opened the pool early for me so I could get in before I took the dog out for a walk since I didn't want to have her struggle up and down the stairs before she needed to. Also beware that in addition to the pet fee they also have you sign a form that if there is dog hair on the bed they will charge you extra. Excuse me, but isn't that what the $10/night pet fee is for? Seems unfair to be double-charged. In my case since the dog had such trouble with the stairs she didn't get on the bed but it was still disappointing. The room was fine - comfy bed, very nice tv. do note there is a lot of road construction on the highway so that is a bit of an inconvenience but not the hotel's fault.

A budget hotel kind of experiencePosted Aug 12, 2013
Pros: Reasonable price, location
Cons: update the rooms in the older section
Location: Near the Fox River, towns of St. Charles, Geneva, Batavia, Randall road corridor
If you choose to stay at this hotel I would suggest you request the newer building. The rooms are larger, have a better layout and are considerably fresher than the older section.

Weekend outside of ChicagoPosted Jul 30, 2013
We spent two nights at the hotel. The accommodations were spacious and the rooms clean. The staff were quite helpful when we had questions and it was fun to make my own waffle in their little "cafe" area. Breakfast options were limited, but then again, it wasn't meant to be a full buffet, just a place to get something to eat and drink in the morning. The location was easily accessible and there was a diner next to that was open all day. They have a pool which is nice, not too large, but no spa. I would definitely stay there again.
