Sauberes Hostel in guter Lage

Posted May 26, 2015

Pros: Location.
Cons: Cleaning
Location: Lincoln zoo just a few mins away, great restaurants nearby as well.
Overall, an ok experience. Was comfortable enough but not too great.

Very good spartan solution in Chicago

Posted May 21, 2015
Pros: The Staff and the neighbourhood.
Cons: There should be more warnings about how people should behave in shared spaces. There are some people that simply behave like uneducated animals.
Location: Location is great. You can go East to Lincoln park and to the beach (can rent a bicycle) or go West and take a train or bus to fantastic Chicago.
The Chicago Getaway Hostel is located in a very nice neighbourhood. It is close to the train stations that gives you access to everywhere. The spaces and the decoration is very nice. They have internet, computers a veranda and a patio that can be used by hosts. Breakfast is very good and the staff is excellent. I stayed in a shared room of 12 and it was not completely bad. The problem is that we never know what kind of people are your roommates, and I had to stand with some not very tidy. Shared bathrooms are the main problem because there are always someone who is not used to behave in a civilized and clean way. But in general I recommend this hostel, especially f you are young or if you don't mind about some lack of privacy and comfort (it's my case).

Great place to stay on a budget

Posted May 18, 2015
The staff was outstanding there were events planned each night hosted by staff members and Friday nights pub crawl was outstanding. The facilities were very clean. Building does not have central air and the air conditioner in our room wasn't installed yet but the weather cooperated and it stayed comfortable. Located in fabulous Lincoln Park it was on a quiet street but close to great food, night life, and public transit

Pros: Very clean. Staff was extremely helpful!
Location: Blocks away from DePaul Campus
This was a wonderful place with very friendly staff! I ran into another guest who was so pleased, she said she wished they would offer places like this in Boston near the campus.

Perfect Location. Hostel not a hotel.

Posted May 13, 2015
The location is perfect. Walking distance around Lincoln Park. Lots of shops and restaurants within 10 minutes. This is a hostel not a hotel. Great people experience for a solo traveler. I had so much fun with the group activities and met wonderful people from all over the world. Their is no restaurant in the hostel, but a cafeteria. They have breakfast specials in the morning. You will need to buy your own food and rent refrigerator space to store it. There is a kitchen you can use to cook food. I was out most of the time so I did not have to worry about this. No vending machines. The bathroom and showers are shared. Bathrooms are pretty dirty and are low on bathroom condiments. Bring your own. Fresh towels are provided daily, but if your room is not cleaned by staff, you will not receive a new towel. I ended up having to ask for new ones. If you are in the executive dorm be careful if you sleep in the top bunk. You might accidentally hit the ceiling fan and could get injured. It can get pretty noisy and hard to sleep sometimes. The strange noise from the heating unit keep me up. There are lockers in each room to store stuff, you will need to bring your own lock or buy one at front desk for around $3-$5. The closet in the executive dorm is shared. Their is only one closet. The decor of the place is very young, hip, and trendy. Might not be appealing for older people. Free wifi, and their are computers you can use with a 15 minute time limit. This place is great for young tra

economical lincoln park/lakeview lodging

Posted Apr 21, 2015
Pros: convenient to the event I was attending. inexpensive. clean. friendly staff.
Cons: try not to surprise customers at check in with changes to their original reservations.
Location: very convenient to retail, entertainment, restaurants, transportation
everything was good except I was bumped from a single bed room to a room with bunk beds. I still had the room to myself so not a big deal. just like to get what I signed up for and no surprises when I'm tired and checking in at night.

Cheapest place to stay in Chicago.

Posted Apr 12, 2015
Pros: Cost. Location.
Cons: More comfortable and less noise beds. Serve breakfast earlier than 7 am. A/C.
The place was convenient and a great price. The bed was not the most comfortable and its springs make a bunch of noise every time you roll over, which makes sharing a room with a handful of people less pleasant, but otherwise I liked the place, and I would probably return.

Perfect location!

This hostel is for me the best in the United States! I keep coming back here when I'm in Chicago. It is close to Lincoln Park, CTA bus 22, and a walkable red line Fullerton station. The staff were very helpful. The place is always clean. It's a party place with different nationalities. I would definitely recommend this place.
