I've had better...

Posted Sep 5, 2014
Pros: Room rate was competitive and it's located in the heart of Chicago. That's about it.
Cons: Add exhaust fan to bathroom, unclog drain in the bathtub, offer free wifi, cheaper parking, rotate the pillow top on bed regularly - massive slope!
Location: Location in heart of Chicago, great for shopping, not so great as a place to lay your head while apartment hunting when visiting from out town.
Moving from SF to Chicago so I was apartment hunting. Overall I was pretty disappointed with my hotel experience. The decor is outdated and not what I would expect at a hotel with this prime location. I didn't realize that there wasn't a parking garage in the hotel, and the garage they suggested was pricey. When I arrived the staff was doing a lot of socializing with one another, but once one of them broke off to help me they were nice. I had booked a 1 king room, but my mother tagged along at the last minute so I asked if a room with two doubles was available. The gentleman said yes and agreed to switch me. When we got to the room we realized it was a 1 king room so I had to go back down to the lobby to have them correct it. The beds looked comfy but they weren't at all b/c the pillow top had never been rotated so there was a massive slope to it -- I pretty much slept in a sink hole. The bathroom had no exhaust fan which is a pretty standard thing for a bathroom. The bathtub-shower drained extremely slow so I stood in a foot of water while showering--yuck! I thought hotels were supposed to offer free wifi - this one did not, and the daily rate was extremely over-priced. If a coffee shop offers free wifi for buying a cup of coffee, why can't a hotel do the same? At work I book a lot of travel for our employees and we often book them Marriott hotels. After staying in this one myself I will rethink my future selections for our employees.

Great location but outrageous fees

Posted Sep 5, 2014
Pros: The location is great and the views of Chicago from the rooms are beautiful.
Cons: Stop charging such outrageous prices for common services like internet or offer free computers to use to check email or look something up.
Location: The locations is perfect, what can't up do on Michigan Avenue there are restaurants, stores, and access transportation.
Marriott used to be a symbol of an upscale hotel where customer service was the priority. Now getting as much money out of the customer seem to be the new priority. Charging the guest 14.95 (17.12 with all the taxes) a day to access the internet is beyond deplorable. To top that off they do not even offer free computers for the guests, they cost 0.45 a minute to rent. I just find it insulting to the guests that choose to stay there that Marriott has stooped so low and has become so greedy to charge these outrageous rates. A three day stay racks up what I pay for a month of internet service. Also during my stay there were two days in a row that the room was not cleaned until 6 pm, but the day I was checking out they showed up at 7:50 am. The days that the room was not cleaned until the evening, it had been vacant from 9 am to 5 pm. I had to go to the front desk and ask them to send the house keeper. The property is very nice, staff very helpful but I will not ever knowingly book another room at a Marriott. I would like to say that I would never stay at Marriott again but with traveling for work I might end up at one. It would be nice if they would put the customer first instead of the dollar.

A Fantastic Experience!

Posted Sep 3, 2014
Pros: Within walking distance from the places I planned to visit.
Cons: The movement of traffic in and out of the drive up hotel entrance was efficient, it could be improved, regarding car valet retrieval at check out.
Location: The best location for walking to almost everything you wanted to do and see.
Prior to my stay at Marriott Magnificent Mile I had never stayed in a hotel downtown Chicago. I had an extremely wonderful stay! It exceeded my expectations. I was within walking distance of all of the places I had planned to visit during my stay. From check in to check out, the hotel staff was helpful, knowledgeable, and gracious. The value I received for my stay was exceptional! I will stay there again.

Perfect location for center Chicago

Posted Sep 2, 2014
Pros: Old but redone to current standards. Quite expensive but probably within the range for Magnificent Mile location. Staff was excellent.
Cons: Bathroom doors are shot and should have been replaced in last renovation. Add refrigerator or cooler for ice to room. A/C was marginal at sunny side
Location: Perfect location for CTA, tours, shopping at Mag. Mile. Long walk to Navy Pier (which is way overrated by the way)
Incredible location for restaurants, shopping, and sightseeing

Nothing like pictures online.

The hotel was nothing like it was shown online. The room was very small and not what I had requested so I checked out within 15 minutes. I would not recommend

First stay in Chicago.

Posted Aug 27, 2014
Pros: It was close proximate to the attractions.
Upon arriving the hotel after driving four hundred miles the last thing I wanted to hear is that the two double bed room that I booked was not available. We had four people and yes a king size suite on the forty fifth floor was much larger but exactly how comfortable were the 2 role away beds going to be. The hotel did take off $100. for the inconvenience per my request and yes I did enjoy the two bottles of wine and cheese tray but the two teenage girls that had to sleep on the two very uncomfortable role aways for three nights were rather disappointed. Also..the bathrooms only had single sinks so four girls sharing one very small bathroom with one mirror was rather tricky. I am not sure why there isnt a huge mirror in the room right over the desk area..seems like a pretty simple solution.
