“pretty good to go back”
It was pretty nice. Easy to find, good location for traveling the city.
“Great Location, no probs”
Great location on Michigan Ave, easy walking to train, loop, etc., cabs available easily. Staff very efficient, nice touch is that each floor is themed with a different type of art - Picasso floor, Abstract floor, etc.
“amazingly clean and comfortable”
desk people most helpful with recommending restaurants; great to be able to stay downtown and still have a large pool for the kids; I've told friends and family it's a great deal but now they will get too popular and start raising their rates
“Extremely helpful staff”
The staff at the Essex Inn were all extremely halpful and knowledgeable. We had a few mishaps in not receiving our luggage from the airline and the staff did everything they could to accommodate us. We were very grateful for the service we received. The pictures online do not match one hundred percent to the hotel. Not all of the rooms have been renovated, but it was still a very comfortable place to stay.
“Good deal.”
Good location, nice swimming pool, competitive price. I am ready to come back and would recommend this hotel.
“chicago”
hotel was excellent, gym and pool were great, we were happy with hotel. i would have loved a little shop in the lobby but the hilton right across the street covered all those needs(newspapers, candy, snacks, etc)
“Nice pool”
Only one thing I would change. I wish there was a hot tub.
“Great Location”
The Essex is an old hotel that has been well taken care of. It has cool art posters on all the walls. It was neat to go to the Art Institute to see the real artwork. The staff is very helpful. Only one exception was the maid who pestered us to allow her to clean. We used the "Do Not Disturb" sign and that ended the knocks on the door eartly in the morning. The pool was wonderful and had a lifeguard on duty which is unusual. The Essex supplied a free shuttle to Navy Pier, Art Institute, Museum campus and John Hancock which was priceless. We hardly had to walk at all! The driver was very knowledgeable and gave great insights on the landmarks of Chicago.
“Essex Inn was nice!!!”
We enjoyed our stay at the Essex Inn! The people were very nice, our room was clean and very comfortable. The only thing I had a problem with was the cost the use the internet service, expensive!!! I was the only dummy using it cause I had to turn in homework:( And it could use a little updating but that hotel is one of the oldest hotels in Chi-town and for that they get lots of credit cause we liked it! You could over-look all the other stuff! We had a nice relaxing time in Chicago together, and I highly recommend the 3-day chicago-go card. We saved lots of money with that card and with expedia, cool beans:)
“Excellent basic hotel”
This is a basic 2 star hotel. It had everything we needed including a free shuttle to some of the downtown sights. Would definitely use them again.
