Good location. Nice Italian restaurants nearby. Doormen are friendly. Reception staff are not very friendly or helpful. I didn't feel welcomed by reception staff however the doormen were more than helpful with giving directions. We did get a 25 dollar gift card which was nice. Went to the rooftop bar but the bar staff at the rooftop bar was not very friendly and couldn't even pull a smile. The hotel is noisy so if you are a light sleeper then I wouldn't recommend. However I found the location away from traffic handy as it was away from the busier end. Information centre is also close by and so is shopping.

Great location

Was within walking distance to many of the sights and the subway when we needed to venture further out. Stayed on the 6th floor and would have preferred higher up as road traffic was noisy. Room was nice with a very comfortable king size bed. Hotel staff was very nice and able to answer any questions about directions to certain Chicago sights. They had a nice restaurant that opened early for breakfast and were also able to recommend other good restaurants in the area. They were also very accommodating with a later checkout time. I would definitely stay there on my next trip to Chicago.

No sleep

Posted Sep 3, 2014
If you are looking for a hotel and spa experience this is NOT the place! I apparently read the description wrong because I thought the place would be more of a relaxing, inviting environment. We did not get any sleep until 4am. The elevators and people coming and going was so loud. You can hear everyone getting off the elevator and talking all the way to their rooms. There is really no room that doesn't have that noise issue since our second room wasn't much better. The next morning I requested to be moved which they did do after I pleaded and told me I has to come back to check with them after noon which wasn't convenient. The next day I hers another couple skimg to be moved as well. We will never stay at this place again. If you like a loud hotel with a younger crowd and a rooftop bar with only that crowd then this is your place. Not what we had imagined for our anniversary weekend. We are exhausted from no sleep. Also one 2 inch bar of soap is not enough. You need a bath bar and a bar for washing hands. Both rooms only had one small bar of soap. Irritating and soap is cheap, come on! I can't believe we paid that much money for an awful stay.

First time to Chicago

Posted Sep 2, 2014
Pros: See above
Cons: See above
In regards to the hotel alone we were generally happy with the place. I guess it was our error for wrongly assuming the hotel had a full wall of window on one side so were a bit disappointed when we got there (standard room) to a small room with a very tiny triangle shaped concrete balcony with very little room to even stand on. The concrete ceilings really take down the look of the hotel. We were on the rooftop bar and bumped into people that were just up there for a drink and their comment was the same. The most disappointing was that the first night our air conditioner was frozen up and blocked so didn't work. Got very little sleep as it was too hot. When maintenance came up the next day the guy was very nice and told us to take a bottle of wine as a compliment. We don't drink wine so mentioned this upon checkout. The girl at the desk was quite unfriendly and simply said because we booked via a third party (trivago) there was nothing else she could do for us in lieu of the bottle of wine. Other than the above hotel was really nice, good location, etc.

Cons: Get new bed mattresses.
Uncomfortable bed....terribly soft mattress. Our backs are still hurting from the stay. While at the front desk, another guest was complaining and demanded a new room.

Hotel is close to everything, including metro line

We loved the location of the hotel and friendliness of the staff. Everyone on staff was more than ready to provide dining suggestions, best walking and bus routes to the various Chicago sites, etc.. The helpfulness of the staff was more than expected. A pleasant surprise. We didn't make it to club Vertigo, but it looks very popular.

Good hotel

Pretty good location. Hotel is close to public transport, mag mile and certain attractions such as the art institute, though wish closer to blue line of subway, which would have provided direct transport to airport for $3-5... it's still possible to take subway to and from airport but it takes more work. Rooms are nice... on the smaller side but taking full advantage of space and clean. Rain showerhead in bathroom was a plus as was ample counterspace. Lighting in room could be brighter but I guess that's many hotels. Room has a reasonable wine collection for convenience.
