Friendly staff can't keep up with crowdsPosted Aug 15, 2014
Pros: Location, friendly staff, clean and well-maintained
Cons: breakfast food, wi-fi
Location: It's about three blocks from Navy Pier and a couple of blocks from the Magnificent Mile.
We stayed here on a recent trip to Chicago. It's a great location, close to Navy Pier and walking distance to the shopping on the Magnificent Mile and even to The Loop. The hotel is clean and we found the staff to be very friendly. It also is a great choice if you're a family and need a little more space. But the hotel is very, very busy and full. There are long line-ups for the evening reception and for the made to order breakfast. One day, we opted to just do the buffet part of the breakfast to avoid the lines, but most of the food was cold. We have stayed at Embassy Suites in other locations and this was not up to the same standards. Another drawback is that the wi-fi is TERRIBLE! We could get ok connection if we stayed bear the window overlooking the main atrium in the hotel, but if you moved even half-way through the room towards the edge, you'd lose the connection. They had a promotion for free wi-fi at the time we stayed; that was good, because I would be angry if I had paid for that level of service. Overall, it's not a bad place to stay and I'd consider it if I returned, but it wasn't compelling enough to make me come back. I'd shop around a bit.

Location: We walked to the Hancock Building and Michigan Ave one day, Navy Pier the next.
Better than I even expected- loved the managers reception and made to order breakfast!! Beautiful lobby, great location, spacious rooms - it was excellent! The pool was a little small but not too bad.

Close to Navy Pier, but fell short of expectationsPosted Aug 11, 2014
Really convenient location - smack between Navy Pier and Magnificent Mile. Upon check-in, attendant seemed confused. He said he had our confirmation number, but the precise room type wasn't available. Keep in mind the hotel's own site listed the room type available also when I booked on Expedia. He said he 'upgraded' us to a top floor. Now, I think this was true, because our floor had a special access vending on it and was labeled a premium suite on the highest floor. But we didn't get the King we booked. Plus, it was in poor repair - hook in bathroom broken off, TV and cable disconnected. In fixing, we found a bracelet in the TV console and my son found an orange under the bed the morning we left (not ours). Gross!!! The bathroom was clean, if not nice, or we would have moved. But I think if we had found the orange earlier, we would have moved anyhow. I informed the front desk they needed to do better on cleaning. Can't help feeling we got the 'Expedia' room. If you do stay, the breakfast is included, and I highly recommend choosing the made to order line. The hot buffet items were not good, particularly the eggs.

Cons: Needs better management/leadership
We did not get the room we reserved. The sofa bed was missing the mattress and when we talked to the front desk and their response was "yes, that room is missing a mattress and the hotel is oversold so there is nothing we can do about it". After talking with the front desk about cancelling our room and getting a room at an alternate hotel, we were moved to a new room. This issue wasted over an hour of our time on a Friday evening. I will not stay at this hotel again.

Great suite between the Pier and Magnificent MilePosted Aug 10, 2014
Pros: Suite with bedroom and sofa bed. Location conducive for walking. Good price for the location.
Location: Located 1/2 way from the Navy Pier and Magnificent Mile
Stayed for 2 nights before leaving from Navy Pier for a Cruise on the Great Lakes. Wanted a suite close to the Pier. The bedroom was spacious with a short hallway between the living room and bedroom. Barsink and fridge. Comfortable couch which opened to a sleeper. The room was quiet despite being by the elevators. Breakfast was complimentary and was a full spread. We could walk everywhere. The hop on hop off bus was nearby as well as most attractions.

Wonderful location!!Posted Aug 9, 2014
Breakfast was wonderful but a bit too chaotic. The staff tried to be helpful keeping things moving along. We called for an extra blanket and it took 20 minutes to arrive. I would say that our experience was 50/50. If it wasn't for the great location, I would not recommend it to anyone.
