Great location!

Wonderful 3 night stay at the Hampton Inn Majestic in Chicago. Very close proximity to buses and the red line L station. Within walking distance from the Art Institute of Chicago and Millenium Park. Complimentary breakfast and coffee was very tasty! Would recommend this hotel to friends and family and would stay here again.

Very nice boutique hotel!

Posted Sep 2, 2014
Pros: Location, free WiFi, free breakfast, ease of check in and check out.
Cons: Bigger area for seating at breakfast, double sinks.
Location: Everything is close either via bus ride or walking! All "big" bus routes stop just around the corner from the hotel (all museums, Mag Mile, etc)
I had never stayed here before, nor had I heard anything about it, so I was nervous and excited at the same time. We were able to walk (about four blocks) from the LaSalle Street Metra station, and we liked that. When we got there, we found it easily, nuzzled in next to a theatre. The entrance is not the lobby, though the employees at the entrance were friendly. You take (very small) elevators up a few floors to the modest lobby to check in. We were early, but we got our room and the check-in process was very smooth! If you are looking for a showy lobby and ornate decorations, this is not the place for you. The elevators, though small, move fast and were never an issue as far as being crowded. You do have to key into the elevator with your room card, but I like that safety feature. There is a free breakfast, and that was a nice bonus! The free WiFi, too, is a huge plus, especially with a teen who uses up a lot of her data without that access. The room was basic, but nice. Enough room for four people for one night. The bathroom was large, though two sinks would have been nice during crunch times. There were no noise issues at all, and the thermostat worked great. The shower was nice, very roomy with average water pressure. I did not see a fridge, but I was GLAD not to have to deal with those in-room snacks and drinks they charge you for. Average view. Honestly, while some parts of the place were average, I had no complaints. I would DEFINITELY stay there again

Dear Cindy, We are glad you enjoyed your experience during your recent stay with us. Our hotel is centrally located in the heart of downtown and is easily accessible to the metra station and other city attractions. With the uniqueness of the property, being an old historic business building it has given us the challenge of the breakfast/lobby area. We do our very best to ensure guest satisfaction with what we have to work with in this area. Our complimentary breakfast and WiFi are added bonuses to the wonderful customer service our staff provides to each guest. Thank you for “definitely” returning to our property we and can’t wait until you return. Have a wonderful day.

The gentlemen downstairs at valet parking were boarding on rude. The staff upstairs could also have been more helpful and friendly. I would not stay at this location again, there are ao many other hotels in the are to chose from. We travel often, and stay in this hotel chain and were dissapointed by the overall service.

Dawn, First, I would like to apologize for the unsatisfactory service you received from our valet. They are an outsourced company and are not directly affiliated with our hotel management company. The issue will be addressed so that it won’t happen again with any future guests. We do take pride in our customer service here and hope you can stay again and receive a better experience. Enjoy the rest of your week.

Location: Near the financial district- Miller's Pub great for late night drinks.
Staff was fantastic, friendly, accommodating. Room was spacious, clean, and well-stocked. My only argument is that when we first got on our floor, there were bags of trash in the floor lobby. That was unsightly.

Thanks for sharing your 4-star experience of your recent stay with the Hampton Majestic. So glad you enjoyed our spacious rooms & fantastic staff. The reason why you saw linen bags in the corridors is due to the historic nature of the building: a linen chute could not be incorporated into the 1905 built building. Therefore, our housekeeping staff must place linen bags to be picked up throughout the day. Thanks again for your feedback & we look forward to hosting you at the Hampton Majestic the next time you are in Chicago. Ross Guthrie General Manager

Good hotel downtown Chicago

Posted Jul 11, 2014
Pros: Very close to all attractions in the loop. Within walking distance to most of everything. This is downtown Chicago in a historic building.
Cons: Most likely if you pay the full price, you might expect a bigger room. Parking is expensive.
Location: All main attractions are close by; 2-5 minutes to a tour bus stop, close to Giordano's Pizza on Jackson.
I was pleasantly surprised. The room looks small, but we found it to be a good size. We got a very good deal on the room so considering the price we paid it was a good choice (under $120 a night). The bed was comfy, room clean, bathroom the same. The room we got was facing an interior yard or something and the windows were very close to the ceiling which made it feel like we were in a basement, but we didn't care about it as we were out all day anyway. All we're looking for usually is a clean, quiet room to sleep in and a good bathroom with appropriate water pressure. And this hotel had that. We had breakfast included and it was varied enough for all preferences. The vending machine on our floor had ice cold water for $2 if needed. We only stayed 2 nights and I usually don't need any cleaning service for that. As we left our "do not disturb" sign on for the day, it was nice to find a basked with toiletries and new towels in front of our door when we got back; not that we needed them, but just in case, the staff made sure we had it. We did not park with them as we don't like valet parking and it was more expensive than we could find ourselves; we self parked at the "The Palmer House" (2 full days - overnight included - $90).

Great Hotel, convenient to trains and attractions

Posted Jul 2, 2014
Pros: Breakfast, convenient location, helpful staff.
Location: Walk to Willis Tower (we went up and then took the river taxi from there to Navy Pier), Millennium Park (Art Museum, Bean, Crown Fountain) Shopping
Very friendly staff! Everyone was very accommodating and helpful. The free breakfast got each of our 5 days off to a great start. We walked or took the train everywhere, and the Majestic is very conveniently located for access to all CTA lines. We took the blue line in from O'Hare and the hotel was literally about 100 steps from the station (around the corner). The staff was always willing to make recommendations, and offer directions. We had a late return flight, and the bell staff held our bags after checkout at no extra charge (except tip, of course!)
