Nice when you just need a place to stay

Posted Dec 6, 2014
Pros: Clean, comfortable beds, good water temperature and triple locked doors.
Cons: maybe complementary shampoo/conditioner in the shower.
Location: nothing but a white caste, domino's and a small bar nearby but you're a 15 minute walk from the Red Liine
No frills here just a nice, clean place to stay. Water pressure in the shower was a little too extreme for my liking, and the only complementary cleaning product was a wrapped bar of soap but luckily I brought my own. Beds were comfortable, room was warm and doors were triple locked. 2 minute walk from White Castle if you get hungry late at night. I didn't get to try the complementary breakfast, but it was offered from 6am-10am

Retro Motel near Andersonville

Posted Dec 1, 2014
Clean 1960's basic motel close to Andersonville and the CTA Red Line. Room and furniture dated, like taking a step back in time before flat screen TV, in-room fridge and ironing boards became expected amenities. Plusses are price, location, free parking. On the minus side light sleepers should bring earplugs for traffic noise and the very loud HVAC units. Wi-fi signal was weak/slow. Continental breakfast buffet was carbs, coffee and juice only, no protein. Courteous and efficient staff. Not the kind of room you want to linger or lounge in, but a fine and reasonably priced place to crash at the end of a day exploring the neighborhood or city.

Horrible TV channel options. The TV set was an old tube TV as well. Very dated

Inexpensive and pleasant

Posted Nov 10, 2014
Pros: Location and price
Cons: It's at an intersection from which it's very hard to enter the driveway -- some information on the website might help.
Location: Not far from the lake and the Loyola campus. Not a particularly touristy area but close to buses and trains.
When all you need is a clean place to sleep and shower, you don't need to pay for fancy fixins -- at least I don't. That's why we stay at Heart o' Chicago -- because it gives us a clean place to stay plus good coffee in the morning.

Far from everything.

Too much for an old place, noisy, far from everything, including public transit and grocery.

It's OK

Posted Oct 3, 2014
Let me start with the good. It's in a convienient location. Most of the things I wanted to do were just a 20 minute drive and it is walking distance from a lot of interesting local shops. The rooms were very clean (cleanest I've stayed in) and the beds were comfortable. The bad. The guy at the desk at check in was difficult to understand because of his accent and got snippy with me when he had to repeat things. In contrast the guy at check out was very nice and let me keep my car parked there for a few hours after check out. There is a $25 fee at check in that is refunded to you when you leave. The fee isn't really an issue, it would just be nice to have been told that when I booked the room. The air conditioner in the room kept blowing out hot air. Luckily it was cool outside so we didnt smother. The wifi worked for 5 minutes and then my phone couldnt find the signal again. Overall the issues I had are first world problems that I can deal with for a night or two. If I ever go back to Chicago I might consider staying there again just because of the convenient location for the price.

We were quite satisfied with this inexpensive, no=frills motel. It was close to our destination, clean and had comfortable beds. The continentel breakfast was adequate. We would use the motel again. We did have a little trouble understanding 2 of the desk clerks.

So so place to stay

No lotion, towel rack, fridge, clock in room... Continental breakfast lacks "real" food
